On September 21, Mr. Derek Chollet, Counselor of the U.S. Department of State, received U Aung Kyi Nyunt, Chairman of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights, U Htin Linn Aung, Union Minister of Communications, Information and Technology, U Moe Zaw Oo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and U Aung Kyaw Moe, Advisor to the Ministry of Human Rights.

U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights, said, “Both sides exchanged views on sectors to be targeted for continued sanctions by the U.S government, justice and law enforcement issues, humanitarian assistance, technology, communication and skills development aids, etc.,”

In addition, the National Unity Government presented and discussed that, regarding the ASEAN five-point consensus, not only ASEAN countries but also partner countries that are interested in Myanmar’s affairs should cooperate and need to cooperate on it; regarding the planned election by the military junta, it is not possible at any point to accept it; NUG had already issued comments on it; and the international community should act without recognizing the junta’s preparations for elections.

“Yet today, in 2022, fundamental freedoms are at risk in every part of our world, from the violations of human rights in Xinjiang detailed in recent reports by the Office of the U.N High Commissioner, to the horrible abuses against pro-democracy activists and ethnic minorities by the military regime in Burma.”

The President of the United States urged the countries of the world not to turn a blind eye to the erosion of human rights, including those that are brutally committed against people.

“On September 20, Myanmar-born democracy activists and German citizens who support the democracy activities in Myanmar gathered and demonstrated in front of the UN office in Bonn for the appointment of Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun as the official representative of Myanmar to the United Nations. Moreover, we collected the signatures of those who participated and wrote an open letter of encouragement addressed to the United Nations Regional Information Centre in Bonn. The terrorist military burns down the villages of Tha Ga Ya and Gway Kone in Khin-U Township, Sagaing Division

According to locals, in Sagaing Division, Tha Ga Ya Village was set on fire at around 7:00 a.m. on September 22, and Gway Kone Village was set on fire at 9:40 a.m.

They said, “A terrorist military column temporarily stationed in Tha Ga Ya Village burned down the village this morning. Then the column divided into two groups, one near the mobile phone tower, the other near the railroad, and continued to the east. They then entered and burned down Gway Kone Village again.”
