Myanmar Spring Chronicle – June 22 Scenes

MoeMaKa   June 23 2022

The car containing PDF was attacked and destroyed in Pwint Phyu Township, the car containing police and Pyuu Saw Htee was attacked in Khin U

The news reported today that a PDF’s truck carrying weapons was ambushed by the military junta at the edge of Mezali Birdge on Pathein-Monywa road in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Division and 12 PDF members were killed and 3 were injured. The military junta captured a dozen of guns and many bullets.

It can be assumed that the military junta had already obtained the information about the exact time and type of car which carried PDF and arms and they were fired on with heavy artillery from a distance when they arrived at the bridge. The incident in which over a dozen of hardly earned rifles were captured by ambushes after they had arrived in the territory and the loss of at least 10 PDF members were a huge loss for PDF in Magway Division. So there is an urgent need to make movements and activities of PDF more securely after learning a lesson from this interception which was due to information leak.

PDF groups need to learn a lesson from this case that will help them better understand and practice military secrecy and procedures. Procedures, exercises and preparation are needed to scout enemy information and PDF also need to keep their news about the movements and activities more secret.

On the same day, the news also reported about the deaths of a police captain and over 10 Pyuu Saw Htee members (pro Junta militia) in the clash with PDF on stopping their truck for inspection  at Ye U-Khin U road in Sagaing Division.

These two incidents occurred on the same day in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Division and in Khin U Township, Sagaing Division but in the latter case, PDF were able to defeat a police captain and Pyuu Saw Htee.

The other news for today is about the transfer of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from house detention to Nay Pyi Taw prison. It is heard that the junta was planning to transfer beforehand and she was transferred recently. The reason for the transfer was not clear. The 19th June was Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday and on the next day in court, her lawyers prepared the birthday cake to celebrate her 77th birthday and it was reported in the news.

The other news was that the military junta was clearing the villages near Letpadaung hill, detaining the villagers and there were clashes on the night of June 21. It was said that 40 detained villagers were released on the next morning. It is assumed that the military council is handling it more carefully than the other areas because those areas are close to the Copper Project in Letpadaung hill which is an investment of China.

It can be considered that China may have influence over the military council to some extent and so there seems to be an obligation to protect Chinese investment.
