- Myanmar Military Bombs Public Hospital in Kawlin, Killing Eight, Including CDM Doctor
m.CDM | November 5, 2026
At least eight people, including a doctor participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), were reportedly killed when Myanmar military forces carried out a jet fighter airstrike on a hospital providing medical treatment to civilians in Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region, according to local sources.
The attack reportedly took place at approximately 7:00 p.m. on November 4, targeting a public hospital located between Pepinchaung and Hlawphyukone villages in eastern Kawlin Township. Sources said there was no ongoing fighting in the area at the time.
Eight people, including CDM doctor Dr. Zar Ni Tun, also known as Pwa Gyi, as well as healthcare workers and patients, were reportedly killed instantly. Approximately seven others sustained critical injuries.
Although those inside the hospital had taken shelter after hearing aircraft approaching, a bomb reportedly struck a bomb shelter directly, causing extensive casualties.
Military supporters have accused the facility of operating under the National Unity Government (NUG). Pro-military accounts have also circulated claims that the hospital was deliberately targeted following information provided by military informants.
Meanwhile, revolutionary organizations have warned residents to remain vigilant against airstrikes as Myanmar military forces continue bombing Kawlin, Wuntho, and Mawlu in an effort to regain control of resistance-held areas in upper Sagaing Region.
- Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun Urges UN to Coordinate with NUG, SCEF and Democratic Forces to Expand Humanitarian Assistance
m.CDM | November 5, 2026
Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, has urged UN agencies to strengthen coordination with the National Unity Government (NUG), the Steering Council for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union (SCEF), and other democratic forces to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches more people affected by armed conflict.
He made the appeal during an interactive dialogue between members of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and UN Resident Coordinators from around the world.
Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun explained that civilians in Myanmar continue to face increasingly severe hardship as a result of the military junta’s ongoing airstrikes, atrocities, alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity, and economic collapse.
He also emphasized that humanitarian conditions have deteriorated further because the military authorities have imposed restrictions on aid operations and deliberately obstructed humanitarian deliveries at a time when civilian needs are growing.
The ambassador expressed appreciation to the UN Resident Coordinator and UN agencies for their efforts to provide humanitarian assistance without discrimination, including in difficult-to-access areas.
However, he stressed that significant gaps remain in delivering effective assistance on the ground.
He therefore urged UN agencies and the Resident Coordinator to continue expanding humanitarian access to all communities in need, particularly those living in conflict-affected and hard-to-reach regions.

- Thai Deputy Prime Minister to Visit Myanmar for Border Security Talks; Thai Military Chief Issues Second Warning Over Cross-Border Attacks
m.CDM | November 5, 2026
Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, is reportedly scheduled to visit Myanmar on November 12, ahead of an ASEAN summit, to discuss reducing armed conflict and preventing violence from spilling across the Thai–Myanmar border.
Arrangements are reportedly underway for him to meet Min Aung Hlaing, described in the original report as Myanmar’s military-backed president.
While attending the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation (MLC) forum in Beijing, Sihasak reportedly held preliminary telephone discussions with Than Swe, the foreign minister appointed by Myanmar’s military authorities.
During those discussions, the Thai side reportedly urged Myanmar’s military authorities to conduct airstrikes away from the border, reduce violence, and respond constructively to ASEAN’s demands.
Thailand also reportedly emphasized that Myanmar’s return to ASEAN meetings would depend on a constructive response to the regional organization’s requirements.
According to Thai media reports, Than Swe acknowledged Thailand’s concerns and promised to convey them to Myanmar’s military leadership.
He also reportedly pledged to prevent further military operations that could endanger Thailand.
Separately, on November 5, Thailand’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Ukrit Boontanonda, met Myanmar Military Attaché Brigadier General Win Thu Lin and issued another warning against military operations that could harm Thai civilians.
During their meeting at Thailand’s National Defence College (NDC), General Ukrit emphasized that Myanmar military operations aimed at recapturing border outposts from ethnic armed organizations must not endanger Thai territory, civilians, or property.
This marked the second warning issued to Myanmar military representatives.
The Thai military chief reportedly stressed that although Myanmar’s military may conduct operations within its own territory, it must respect Thailand’s sovereignty and ensure that civilians on the Thai side of the border are not harmed.
General Ukrit told Thai media that Myanmar’s military attaché had responded positively to the concerns raised.
However, he emphasized that whether Myanmar’s military authorities actually comply with these commitments would have to be assessed through their subsequent actions on the ground.
Earlier, on November 2, Thai authorities had summoned the Myanmar military attaché for an initial warning after artillery shells from fighting near Myawaddy reportedly landed inside Thai territory.
