Today’s reports include the surrender of more than 100 military personnel and family members traveling toward Bhamo; civilian deaths in Chaung-U; KNDF’s plan to sign international military agreements; orders for absent resistance fighters to report back to their units; recruitment by a Naypyitaw PDF battalion; and growing pressure on the military’s river-based supply system.
More Than 100 Military Personnel and Family Members Reportedly Surrender Near Bhamo
Two vessels from a military flotilla traveling from Shwegu toward Bhamo reportedly raised white flags and came ashore, with more than 100 military personnel and family members surrendering to resistance forces.
The flotilla had traveled from Mandalay’s Gaw Wein port carrying supplies and ammunition. After stopping in Shwegu since August 27, it resumed its journey toward Bhamo early on September 2.
KIA and PDF joint forces reportedly attacked the vessels repeatedly along the route, damaging as many as four boats. One of the largest armed vessels was reportedly sunk near Zinbon village, while another caught fire near Sinkhan Bridge.
Two additional vessels were reportedly unable to continue after suffering engine damage. They raised white flags and came ashore. More than 100 people, including soldiers, women and children, were moved to safe locations by resistance forces, while the wounded were provided assistance.
The military reportedly deployed Y-12 aircraft and more than 20 fighter-jet sorties to protect the flotilla and clear its route. A military vessel previously captured near Bo Kone village was also reportedly destroyed by KIA and allied forces on September 1.
Three Civilians Killed in Chaung-U; Village Football Match Shelled
Two civilians were reportedly killed in Khin Mon village, Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, when retreating military troops fired artillery and small arms indiscriminately on September 1.
The victims were a 35-year-old woman and her 70-year-old father. The following morning, a 27-year-old man was also killed after stepping on a landmine near the entrance to the village.
Fighting has continued around Khin Mon, Monyway and Shwe Dah Kya villages since August 31. At least 10 houses have reportedly been burned, while around 7,000 residents have fled their homes.
In Tanintharyi Region, the KNU also reported that military forces fired three 81mm mortar rounds toward Yange village in K’Ser Doh Township while villagers were holding a friendly football match on the afternoon of September 2.
KNDF Plans to Join International Military Agreements
The Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) announced that it intends to sign international military agreements as part of an effort to strengthen international confidence in its policies and military regulations.
KNDF said it would also allow the international community to monitor and evaluate its compliance with military codes of conduct.
The announcement followed KNDF’s first conference, held on August 28 and 29. Its political report also highlighted the organization’s previous cooperation with the National Unity Government (NUG), the Ministry of Defence, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), and other revolutionary alliances.
KNDF said it would continue discussions with allied organizations in an effort to expand its political principles and cooperation at the national level.
CNDF Orders Absent Fighters to Report Back by September 20
The Chin National Defence Force (CNO/CNDF) has ordered personnel currently on leave, those who have overstayed their leave, and those absent without authorization to report back to military headquarters by September 20.
The organization said some personnel had failed to return or report according to regulations despite being granted leave for personal or social difficulties.
Those who fail to report by the deadline could be officially designated as deserters and face disciplinary action.
Personnel wishing to transfer to other duties, leave the organization or retire were also instructed to report before September 20 and follow the required procedures.
YGF Tells Fighters Who Have Lost Contact to Reconnect
The YGF Battalion 8001 has similarly instructed male and female fighters who are currently separated from their unit to contact battalion officials within 15 days.
The order applies both to those officially on leave and those absent without authorization. The group warned that personnel who fail to make contact within the specified period could face disciplinary action under battalion regulations.
Naypyitaw PDF Battalion 808 Recruiting New Members
Naypyitaw PDF Battalion 808, operating under the NUG Ministry of Defence, has announced that it is recruiting new members to increase its manpower and expand future operations.
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old, be in good health and be capable of completing basic military training.
They must also be prepared for difficult conditions and, when necessary, separation from family and loved ones. Recruits are required to serve for at least three years after completing basic training and comply with the battalion’s rules and orders.
The battalion also states that applicants must not use illegal drugs or engage in gambling.
Sagaing Interim Government Deputy Prime Minister Visits Depayin
The deputy prime minister of the Sagaing Federal Unit Interim Government visited Depayin Township and met with members of the township People’s Administration Team.
The discussions covered future administrative plans, challenges facing the interim federal unit and measures needed to strengthen governance.
Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Aung Nay Win said cooperation between local administrative organizations and the interim government would be important for strengthening administrative mechanisms and serving the public during the revolutionary period.
PDF Says Military River Supply System Is Coming Under Increasing Pressure
The People’s Defence Force headquarters released video footage showing FPV drone attacks on military supply vessels and vehicles carrying weapons and provisions along the Ayeyarwady River and in Magway Region.
According to an assessment by PDF Insight, repeated attacks have placed increasing pressure on large military supply flotillas attempting to move provisions into northern areas through the Chindwin and Ayeyarwady rivers.
In July, a 46-vessel flotilla traveling from Monywa toward Kani and Mingin was attacked, with three transport vessels reportedly struck heavily by FPV drones.
In August, another 15-vessel flotilla traveling north from Mandalay was repeatedly attacked around Thabeikkyin and Shwegu. Two vessels reportedly burned and sank, while another was captured.
On September 2, vessels traveling from Shwegu toward Bhamo were again attacked by KIA and allied forces. One reportedly sank, two were damaged, and two others raised white flags and surrendered.
PDF headquarters also claimed that many recent military casualties have been newly conscripted soldiers and warned the public about continuing forced recruitment efforts.
Anti-Military Protests Held at Three Locations in London
Myanmar activists held demonstrations at three locations in London to continue drawing international attention to Myanmar’s Spring Revolution and the demands of the Myanmar people.
According to the Myanmar Unity Movement (M.U.M), demonstrations were held outside the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the Chinese Embassy, where protesters opposed what they described as Chinese government interference in Myanmar affairs.
Another demonstration was held outside the Myanmar Embassy, where participants called for democracy, freedom and justice and expressed opposition to military rule.
M.U.M called on supporters to continue standing together and ensuring that the voices of Myanmar people reach the international community.
