- June Operations Claim Heavy Junta Casualties
The People’s Defense Force under the Naypyitaw Regional Military Command announced that its June operations resulted in the deaths of more than 40 junta personnel, including four officers.
According to a July 2 report, operations were conducted across Bago Region’s Swa and Yedashe townships, and Magway Region’s Natmauk, Taungdwingyi, and Aunglan townships.
Resistance forces said they captured the junta’s Swa Ma Gyi base on June 3 and ambushed a military convoy in Natmauk on June 4. Multiple clashes also occurred along the eastern bank of the Sittaung River in Yedashe throughout June. The military reportedly responded with fighter jets, Mi-35 helicopters, Y-12 aircraft, tanks, drones, and heavy artillery.
On June 15, resistance fighters also ambushed a military vehicle carrying four junta officers near Taungdwingyi.
The report states that more than 40 junta personnel were killed, many others—including a police station commander—were wounded, and 18 small arms, ammunition, and military equipment were seized.
