  1. Security has been tightened again around President U Win Myint’s home, and the military has summoned for questioning those who went to meet him
    m.CDM, April 20, 2026
It is reported that the military commission has once again imposed tight security around the home of recently released President U Win Myint, and that the military is also conducting strict interrogations of those who went to meet him.
This tightening of security and repeated summons for questioning came after former President U Htin Kyaw and some top leaders of the National League for Democracy (NLD) went to President U Win Myint’s home to visit and greet him.
At present, according to NLD circles, the military has set up checkpoints in front of and around President U Win Myint’s residence in Ottarathiri Township, and no one is being allowed to enter or leave without prior notice and permission.
In addition, those allowed to visit are reportedly being subjected not only to scrutiny of their identity cards and personal information but also to strict checks of their phones using the PSMS (Passenger Screening / Security Management System) software.
Because of these intensified security and surveillance measures, NLD circles are questioning and criticizing whether President U Win Myint is effectively being placed back under a form of house arrest.
Likewise, Dr. Myo Nyunt, a member of the NLD Central Executive Committee (CEC) and party spokesperson, was also reportedly summoned twice for questioning by the Ministry of Home Affairs on April 18 and 19.
  2. The Philippines, the rotating ASEAN chair, calls for the immediate release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
    m.CDM, April 20, 2026
On April 19, the Philippines, serving as the rotating chair of ASEAN, officially called for the immediate release of all political prisoners unjustly detained, including public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
In a statement, the Philippine Foreign Ministry said that the release of 4,514 prisoners during the Myanmar New Year period, including President U Win Myint, was welcomed as a positive step toward confidence-building and the beginning of inclusive dialogue.
However, the Philippine government stressed that for meaningful national-level dialogue to move forward fully, it is critically important on humanitarian grounds to release Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all remaining political prisoners, especially the elderly and those in poor health.
It also pointed out that only by doing so can ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus for resolving the Myanmar crisis be fully implemented and meaningful national dialogue begin.
Although President U Win Myint has now been released, public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi remains in prison, and since no official information whatsoever has been released regarding her, concerns about her safety and health are increasing.
Although reports have emerged that her prison sentence was reduced by around four and a half years, this has not yet been officially confirmed.
The coup military has also barred her from meeting family members, lawyers, and top NLD leaders from December 2022 up to the present day.
  3. Daw Zin Mar Aung says, “It is nothing less than the unlawful seizure of the people’s power,” while the IPU confirms CRPH as the legitimate representative without objection
    m.CDM, April 20, 2026
It is reported that the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings, held in Istanbul, Türkiye, concluded successfully, and that the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) was confirmed without objection as the IPU’s legitimate dialogue partner.
During the General Debate session of the assembly, Daw Zin Mar Aung, head of the Myanmar parliamentary delegation, said in her speech that they were standing on that stage as representatives chosen by the votes of more than 27.5 million people of Myanmar.
“The people’s delegated mandate has not expired, nor has it been transferred to anyone. It has only been unlawfully seized,” she stressed.
    She also told international delegates:
“I believe that honorable parliamentarians from around the world would not want to sit in the same room, in the same place, with those who seized power unconstitutionally against the people.”
Later, when the Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians submitted its report on human rights violations around the world, it was also able to formally include and approve the cases of 79 elected Myanmar parliamentarians facing arbitrary arrest, threats, and harm from the terrorist military.
In addition, according to figures from the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) up to April 10, the report officially included that 7,972 democracy activists and civilians had been killed.
The Myanmar delegation also reportedly held separate meetings on the afternoon of April 19 with parliamentary delegations from Timor-Leste, Italy, and Thailand to discuss continued cooperation on Myanmar-related issues.
  4. Attack on junta forces based at the Mon Yway gate and extorting money while out searching for mines leaves 3 dead and 3 injured on the military side
    m.CDM, April 20
The Monywa Special Datedeikyai Group announced on April 20, together with video footage, that an attack on junta forces stationed at the Mon Yway gate in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, while they were out collecting extortion money and searching for mines, left 3 dead and 3 wounded on the military side.
The announcement referred to an incident that occurred at around 10 a.m. on April 15, when junta troops of about 20 men were attacked while on such an operation.
The junta force had been stationed at the Mon Yway toll gate with about 45 troops, and around 20 of them, traveling in a light truck to search for mines and collect extortion money, were ambushed by revolutionary forces at a location on the Monywa–Chaung-U road.
The clash reportedly lasted about 25 minutes. On the military side, one Pyu Saw Htee member and two police officers were killed, while three others were wounded. On the revolutionary side, one fighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

  5. Magway Region PaKaPha allied force attacks KaPaSa 21 with more than 40 rockets, including 107 mm short-range rockets
    m.CDM, April 20
On the night of April 19, the Magway Region PaKaPha released a video showing an attack on KaPaSa 21, a military factory producing drone bombs, using more than 40 homemade rockets, including 107 mm short-range rockets.
According to the statement, they had been able to approach the KaPaSa facility as early as April 17, Myanmar New Year’s Day, and could have launched the attack then, but refrained from doing so out of respect for Myanmar cultural traditions and customs. It is therefore understood that the attack was carried out only after New Year’s Day.
KaPaSa 21, under the terrorist military, is reportedly a key factory involved in producing bombs used in airstrikes across the country, including 300-pound, 500-pound, and 1,000-pound bombs, cluster bombs, and, since late 2024, drone bombs as well.
For that reason, the Magway Region PaKaPha said it attacked KaPaSa 21 in order to reduce the military’s offensive and defensive capabilities nationwide and to lessen its indiscriminate bombing of civilians.
The attack was jointly carried out by Magway Region PaKaPha, the Magway Region PaKaPha Drone Arm, Thein Ngat Nat Seikphyu Revolutionary Front, Rocket Fighter Group, MGY 30 Combat Column (SOU-3), Gangaw District PaKaPha combat unit, Saw Township PaKaPha, Htilin Township PaKaPha, Yaw Ayeyar production team, Minbu District PaKaPha, and Salin Township PaKaPha.
The Magway Region PaKaPha said it is still investigating the extent of military casualties and losses and will release confirmation when available.

According to local residents, junta troops raided a wedding in Htein Gyi village, near the Dawei deep-sea port in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, and detained more than 20 civilians as human shields.
On the morning of April 20, junta forces stationed inside the Dawei deep-sea port project reportedly launched an offensive into villages in the Nat Bu Lay tract and seized civilians along their route to use as human shields.
That column then raided a wedding in Htein Gyi village, detaining 10 civilians, bringing the total number of civilians captured by junta troops to more than 20 so far.
In addition, shortly after midnight on April 19 into the early morning of April 20, the military reportedly carried out airstrikes on Thazi and Shwe Si Khon villages in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, and on Min Gan and Kyauk Kone villages in Wetlet Township.
As a result of the attack, one middle-aged man from Shwe Si Khon village was killed instantly, and two other men were seriously injured.
Two houses in Shwe Si Khon village were destroyed by fire, and houses in Kyauk Kone and Min Gan villages in Wetlet Township were also damaged.
  7. Villagers along the Pathein-Monywa road flee as a 200-strong military column from KaPaSa 22 advances
    m.CDM, April 20
The Department of Social Affairs, Labor, and Humanitarian Assistance of Pauk Township announced that local residents from villages along the Pathein–Monywa road are fleeing to safety because a 200-strong military column from the KaPaSa 22 arms factory in Seikphyu Township, Magway Region, has advanced into Pauk Township.
The military column reportedly entered Pauk Township on April 19, forcing residents of villages along the road to flee.
According to Ko Kyar Soe of the Seikphyu Guerrilla Lone Tiger LDF People’s Defense Force, the terrorist military has detained 7 civilians, including children, as human shields while advancing through villages in Pauk Township, forcing thousands to flee.
He also said the column seized 7 motorcycles and 2 vehicles after taking the civilians near Thabye Yay village as human shields, and he shared that information with some local media outlets.
Because of the column, thousands of civilians from at least 5 villages, including Thabye Yay, Chet Kan, and Wet Le Yoe upper and middle sections, are reportedly fleeing to safety.
The Pauk Township Department of Social Affairs, Labor, and Humanitarian Assistance warned that the column may be heading to deliver supplies to the Yay Pya police station and the Kokko Su Pyu village, and urged nearby residents to prepare in advance so their belongings are not looted or destroyed and to follow the instructions of local leaders.
  8. Junta again bombs Oo Mae Hta hospital on the Thai-Myanmar border; one bomb explodes on Thai territory
    m.CDM, April 20, 2026
It is reported that junta forces again launched an airstrike on the KNU’s “Oo Mae Hta” hospital, located near the Salween River along the Thai-Myanmar border in Butho Township, Hpapun (Mutraw) District, Karen State, and that one bomb exploded on the Thai side of the border.
At around 10:30 a.m. on April 20, Yak-130 and MiG-29 fighter jets reportedly dropped around 10 bombs on the hospital and surrounding residential areas near the Salween riverbank.
According to the Karen Peace Support Network, the bombing damaged two hospital buildings and a Christian church, though there were no casualties.
One of the bombs reportedly landed and exploded in Mae Sam Laep village, in Mae Sariang District on the Thai side of the river.
As a result, Thai security officials had to urgently evacuate Mae Sam Laep residents to safety, and Thai media reported that the Thai military is now patrolling and monitoring the border area.
Oo Mae Hta Hospital is located only about 500 meters from the border line and serves as a major treatment center for nearby residents and refugees.
This was reportedly the second bombing of the hospital in April. On the night of April 11, it had also been hit by two 500-pound bombs, which caused injuries among people receiving treatment.

The Mogok Township People’s Defense Organization (PaKaPha) announced that it will take strong and effective action against four junta informers who are trying to bribe and persuade revolutionary fighters in Mogok Township to surrender to the military.
According to the statement, the four are Ma Hnin Hnin Oo (aka Yoma), Maung Wunna Phyo (aka Sai Lyan), Maung Aung Zin Phyo (aka Kin Kaung), a nephew of the current junta-appointed chair, and Ma Dayana (aka Moe Pyae; Facebook name Dyn Ena).
They are reportedly persuading revolutionary fighters to surrender, promising a reward of one million kyats for each gun brought in, and saying that even those without weapons would still receive money.
The Mogok PaKaPha also said it has solid evidence that these four people had been celebrating together with junta personnel during the recent Thingyan festival period.
It therefore warned revolutionary organizations and the public to be especially cautious of those individuals and said it would take effective and severe action against them in accordance with its directives and policies.
