Saying, ‘it’s a little scarf merely’
No, this is a multitude of souls
bound together as one and
make their way here by any means.
Perhaps it was the day
you raised your wine glasses
with polished wishes for a peaceful world
was, for them,
the hour of running for their lives
They could not even hear
the sound of your “Cheers!”
They never even knew it’s the day
they had to write their name and age
upon this very scarf
with the blood of their own heart.
Now they stand before you
they have come with full dignity
