- KIA-led forces capture Zinbon military base in Shwegu Township

Kachin Independence Army (KIA)-led resistance forces reportedly captured the military council’s Zinbon strategic base in Shwegu Township, Kachin State.
The allied forces launched a final assault on the base near Zinbon village at about 4:30 p.m. on August 30 and succeeded in taking control of it.
According to a military source, the military council suffered significant casualties during the fighting, and wounded soldiers were transported back to Shwegu.
On August 31, military council troops reportedly launched another large-scale offensive in an attempt to retake the base. However, they suffered further losses in ambushes by KIA-led forces and were forced to retreat.
Zinbon is considered strategically important because it provides security for military vessels traveling north along the Ayeyarwady River. Its loss could seriously affect the security of military vessels heading toward Bhamo, according to military sources.
Tensions remain high around Shwegu and Zinbon, with the military responding with air support.

- Three civilians killed and nine homes burned in Chaung-U and Myeik areas

One civilian was killed and eight others wounded after military council forces attacked villages in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, using artillery and drones.
Residents said a military column that departed from the Northwestern Command in Monywa entered Chaung-U Township on August 29 and began firing artillery and launching drone attacks.
On August 30 and 31, villages including Kyi Kone were attacked, killing one resident and injuring eight others.
Resistance groups have warned civilians to temporarily avoid traveling along the Khin Mon–Shwe Dar Kya road because of the continuing military situation.
In Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region, the KNU’s Myeik-Dawei District reported that military council troops entered the Mazaw village tract and killed two civilian men.
Two residents of Nga Yat Inn village were reportedly killed on August 27, while eight houses in Tone Byaw village were burned. Another house in Yay Kham Chaung village was reportedly burned on August 28.
Three days earlier, on August 24, KNDO forces had attacked a military council position in Tone Byaw village and reportedly seized four weapons. The military column subsequently entered the area, where civilians were allegedly killed and homes set on fire.

- Civilians killed in airstrike on displacement village near Mindat

Civilians were reportedly killed and injured after the military carried out an airstrike on a village sheltering displaced people near Mindat in Chin State.
The Township 2 People’s Administration said the attack occurred at around 5 p.m. on August 30 against a village in Mindat Township where displaced civilians were staying.
Local sources said two fighter jets believed to have come from Tada-U Air Base dropped four bombs, thought to be 500-pound bombs, on two locations despite there being no fighting in the area.
Initial reports indicated that eight civilians were killed, more than ten were injured, and around 20 houses were damaged.
The dead reportedly included a kindergarten student, a Grade 9 student, and elderly men and women.
The Township 2 People’s Administration condemned the bombing as an attack on civilians and described it as an inhumane act. Its initial statement, however, did not provide a detailed list of casualties or damaged homes.
The Chin People’s Army CPA/CPU has said the military is conducting large-scale offensives around Mindat and Kanpetlet in southern Chin State. It has accused the military of repeatedly attacking civilian areas, religious buildings, schools and hospitals with aircraft, artillery and drones.
Local resistance groups have urged residents to remain especially cautious because of continued air attacks.

- Twelve people shot dead in Mahlaing Township

Twelve people, including the chairman of a military council-organized People’s Security and Counter-Terrorism group, known by the Burmese abbreviation Pa-La-Ka-Pha, were shot dead in Htan Ma Gyi village, Mahlaing Township, Mandalay Region.
At around 6 a.m. on August 31, an armed group reportedly entered the village in four vehicles and on motorcycles and went from house to house carrying out shootings.
Ten men and two women were killed, including Pa-La-Ka-Pha chairman U Soe Lin Htike.
After the incident, a military council column entered the area from Mahlaing, prompting residents to flee. The military also reportedly carried out bombing near the village later in the day.
U Soe Lin Htike has been identified as a member of the pro-military Pyu Saw Htee network. However, m.CDM said it could not independently confirm whether the other victims were civilians or members of a militia.
Some residents said the military had pressured villagers into forming a local militia-type organization, although members had reportedly not been issued weapons.
Pro-military Telegram channels blamed resistance forces for the killings and claimed that those killed were civilians.
No relevant resistance organization had officially claimed responsibility at the time of reporting, and m.CDM said it could not independently verify which group carried out the attack.

- Seven soldiers reportedly killed in four days of attacks in Taungtha Township

Seven military personnel were reportedly killed after resistance forces attacked a military column for four consecutive days in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, according to Taungtha PDF (TTA-PDF).
The military column had advanced from Kyaukpadaung Township and stopped at Welaung village in Taungtha Township.
Between August 25 and 28, TTA-PDF, an artillery unit and allied forces repeatedly attacked the troops with drones, 80-mm weapons and 60-mm drop bombs.
TTA-PDF said seven soldiers were killed and buildings being used by the troops caught fire, destroying military equipment and some ammunition.
The group said wounded soldiers were being kept at a religious hall near the Welaung military position and were receiving treatment from local clinic staff.

- Pekon PDF Battalion 1006 completes refresher military training

Pekon Township People’s Defence Force Battalion 2, Battalion 1006, held a graduation ceremony for its third refresher military training course on August 3.
During the ceremony, Battalion 1006 officially adopted the common PDF insignia used by People’s Defence Forces in the southern Shan–Karenni military region.
Members demonstrated different military skills, and awards were presented to exemplary personnel and those demonstrating outstanding combat and shooting abilities.
The battalion said the refresher training was intended to strengthen unity, discipline, organization and ethical standards within the force.
Battalion 1006 thanked allied resistance forces that attended the ceremony or sent congratulatory messages.
It said its members would continue working toward their revolutionary objectives with the support of the public.
Battalion 1006 is currently among the forces resisting military columns operating around Moebye.

- AAPP co-founder U Bo Kyi receives 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award

U Bo Kyi, co-founder of the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), has been named a recipient of the 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award.
The award, presented by the Manila-based Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation, was established in 1958 and is often described as “Asia’s Nobel Prize.”
Other 2026 awardees include Singaporean diplomat Tommy Koh and Bangladeshi humanitarian Runa Khan.
U Bo Kyi, a former political prisoner from Myanmar’s 1988 generation, co-founded AAPP and has spent years documenting the experiences and persecution of political prisoners in Myanmar and advocating internationally on their behalf.
The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation praised his lifelong commitment to accountability, truth and justice.
U Bo Kyi said on social media that the award was not for him alone but also honored all AAPP members and political prisoners who continue to endure imprisonment.
He also called for continued unity and efforts to secure the release of all political prisoners, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Previous recipients from Myanmar have included U Law Yone, Daw Tee Tee, Dr. Cynthia Maung, Ka Hsaw Wa, Lahpai Seng Raw, U Kyaw Thu and U Swe Win.
Tommy Koh is a veteran diplomat who participated in United Nations efforts related to international maritime law, while Runa Khan founded Friendship, an organization providing health and education services to refugees and impoverished communities.

- Karen regional CDM group meets Myanmar Regional CDM Civil Servants Network

A Karen regional Civil Disobedience Movement group and the Myanmar Regional CDM Civil Servants Network (MRCN) held an online meeting at 6 p.m. on August 29, according to the Council of CDM Civil Servants of the Sagaing Federal Unit.
During the meeting, the council’s chairperson said the emergence of regionally based CDM organizations was essential for the revolutionary movement seeking to establish a federal democratic union.
Participants discussed how stronger coordination among regional organizations could expand and strengthen the CDM network.
Representatives introduced their organizations and exchanged information about their current activities. They also discussed the organization of CDM civil servants, fundraising, financial assistance and cooperation with resistance organizations under the different conditions prevailing in each region.
Officials from CDM organizations representing Kachin, Karenni, Sagaing, Mandalay, Mon, Yangon and Shan participated, while representatives from the Bago regional CDM council attended as guests.
Participants said they would continue cooperation aimed at strengthening and expanding regional CDM organizations.

- SSPP issues death sentence in rape and murder case; TNLA court gives 10-year sentence in separate rape case

The Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) High Court has sentenced a 24-year-old man to death for the rape and murder of his 14-year-old cousin in Hsipaw Township, Shan State.
According to the SSPP, Sai San, also known as Sai Hsar San, deceived the girl, Nang San Hwan, by promising to help her find employment on June 14.
He then allegedly raped her in a banana plantation near Nam Hu village, strangled her and repeatedly stabbed her in the neck and abdomen with broken glass before leaving her body beneath a banana tree.
Following its investigation and trial, the SSPP court sentenced him to death on August 30.
In a separate case in TNLA-controlled Namhsan Township, the TNLA judicial department sentenced a 44-year-old man to ten years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl.
The report says the crime occurred in a village in Namhsan Township and that the victim’s family later filed a complaint with Ta’ang police. Following a two-month trial involving six hearings, the PSLF/TNLA judicial department found the defendant guilty and imposed a ten-year prison term.
The source text contains an apparent inconsistency in the dates given for the alleged offense, complaint and arrest.
In another child-rape case earlier this year, the PSLF/TNLA judicial department sentenced an offender to ten years’ imprisonment with hard labor. That prisoner later escaped from Mantong prison on July 20.

- Pyu Saw Htee members accused of robbing delivery worker in Mandalay

Members of the military-aligned Pyu Saw Htee network allegedly threatened and robbed a delivery worker in Maha Aungmyay Township, Mandalay, according to the local monitoring group Voice of Mandalay.
At around 11 p.m. on August 29, five armed men reportedly arrived in an unlicensed white Mark II vehicle near 35th Street between 90th Street and Kanpat Road in Sein Pan Ward.
The group, armed with guns and knives, allegedly threatened a 20-year-old delivery worker and took more than 400,000 kyat and two mobile phones.
The victim reportedly handed over the property after being threatened that he would otherwise be taken away.
Residents say military-aligned groups in Mandalay have repeatedly demanded protection money, detained young people for forced recruitment and carried out robberies.
On August 18, armed Pyu Saw Htee members were also accused of stealing jewelry valued at around 50 million kyat from a merchant in the Maha Aungmyay gemstone market.
Resistance groups have urged residents to exercise caution, alleging that military-aligned armed groups continue to carry out robberies and detentions of young people in the city.
