- Military launches massive airstrikes around Mindat

Myanmar’s military carried out one of its heaviest recent air campaigns around Mindat Township on July 24, reportedly dropping more than 100 bombs within two hours while also conducting additional strikes in southern Saw Township, according to local military sources.
Fighter jets from several air bases and Y-12 bomber aircraft repeatedly targeted areas around Mindat between about 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sources said fighter jets first dropped multiple 300-pound bombs before Y-12 aircraft returned in repeated bombing runs, bringing the total number of bombs to well over one hundred.
Following the attacks around Mindat, two more airstrikes were launched against locations in southern Saw Township.
Military sources said artillery shelling and drone attacks have also continued in the area. Mindat Township officials warned residents to avoid gatherings, keep vehicles under cover, minimize visible activity, and remain alert to the ongoing threat of air attacks.
The military had also reportedly bombed the Yaw region the previous night, prompting local resistance groups and civilians to remain on heightened alert.

- Airstrike on Thandwe injures four civilians

Myanmar military aircraft bombed Thandwe in Rakhine State shortly after midnight on July 23, injuring three women and one child, according to local sources.
Two bombs reportedly struck a restaurant in Ward 7, damaging nearby homes. One woman suffered severe injuries, including the loss of part of her foot, while the other victims were also hospitalized.
Earlier the same day, military aircraft also bombed Ngapali and nearby coastal areas, reportedly injuring six civilians, including a Buddhist monk and a young child, and damaging at least eight homes.
Local reports say Thandwe has been repeatedly targeted this month despite the absence of active fighting in civilian areas.

- Armed administrator and militia members killed

Separate attacks in Kanbalu Township of Sagaing Region and Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region left an armed village administrator and four Pyu Saw Htee militia members dead, according to local sources.
In Kanbalu, resistance fighters reportedly shot and killed a Pyu Saw Htee guard stationed at a village outpost and seized his G-3 rifle.
In Nyaung-U, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a grocery shop where an armed village administrator and several militia members were gathered. The administrator and three Pyu Saw Htee members were killed at the scene.
Local sources alleged the victims had been involved in forced military recruitment, porter conscription, and abuses against civilians.

- Conscript captured after fleeing military service

The Kawthaung Township People’s Defence Team announced that it had captured a 25-year-old military conscript who had deserted from Infantry Battalion 582.
The soldier reportedly fled his unit on July 10 after previously serving in Karen and Rakhine states. According to the statement, he said he witnessed abuse within the military, including mistreatment of soldiers, killings of civilians, and the burning of villages, which motivated him to desert.
Officials said this was reportedly his third attempt to escape military service.

- Political prisoners detained after Martyrs’ Day ceremony

Political prisoners who organized a 79th Martyrs’ Day memorial inside Monywa Prison were reportedly detained by prison authorities.
According to the Monywa Protest Steering Committee, prison officials interrupted the ceremony during a one-minute silence, forcibly detained those believed to have organized the event, and allegedly threatened prisoners with firearms.
Nearly 900 inmates are currently being held in Monywa Prison, including 544 political prisoners, according to the statement.

- Student Revolutionary Force rejects previous joint statement
m.CDM – July 24
The Student Revolutionary Force (SRF) announced that a joint statement issued with the Mingin Township People’s Administration Team in May did not represent the position of the organization as a whole.
SRF said the earlier statement resulted from pressure on several executive members and should not be considered the official position of the entire force.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the revolution alongside allied organizations and pledged to maintain public trust while opposing military rule.

- ASEAN says Min Aung Hlaing still barred from summits

ASEAN’s Special Envoy on Myanmar and Philippine Foreign Minister Maria Theresa Lazaro said coup leader Min Aung Hlaing remains far from being allowed to attend ASEAN summit meetings.
Speaking after the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila, Lazaro said Myanmar’s military authorities have yet to demonstrate meaningful implementation of ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus, which remains the key condition for restoring participation at summit-level meetings.
She also said ASEAN is developing benchmarks to assess compliance with the peace plan and noted it remains uncertain whether she will be able to meet detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi during a planned humanitarian visit to Myanmar later this year.

- Pro-military monk urges conscription of entertainers

Pro-military monk Pauk Ko Taw has called on the military government to expand compulsory military service to include actors, singers, and traditional performers.
In a TikTok video, he argued that military service should not fall mainly on poorer citizens and urged authorities to draft the children of well-known entertainers and public figures as well.
Myanmar’s military has continued expanding forced conscription since activating the military service law in February 2024.

- Spring Development Bank reports strong growth
m.CDM – July 24
The Spring Development Bank (SDB) announced that it now has nearly 600,000 users, with total transaction volume reaching approximately US$2.45 billion.
Marking its third anniversary, NUG Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment Tin Tun Naing said the bank has expanded secure financial services, strengthened fundraising for the resistance movement, and attracted more than US$25 million through its token offerings.
He thanked users and supporters and pledged that the bank would continue supporting the revolution through alternative financial services.
