- Seven Civilians Killed in Air and Artillery Attacks
According to reports, junta airstrikes and artillery shelling across several regions resulted in the deaths of at least seven civilians.
In Kyaikto Township, Mon State, two civilians were killed and one injured after air and artillery attacks on villages in KNU-controlled territory. A jet fighter reportedly dropped a 500-pound bomb on June 18, killing a shop owner and injuring his wife. Another civilian was killed by artillery fire on June 5.
In Chin State, the military reportedly dropped more than 160 bombs on Mindat over three consecutive days from June 19 to June 21.
A displaced persons camp near the old town of Kyindwe in Kanpetlet Township was also bombed on June 19. Five civilians were killed and at least ten others were injured.
Additional airstrikes were reported in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region; Leik Tho Saw Township in Tanintharyi Region; and Kyintali Town in Rakhine State, causing injuries and damage to civilian areas.

- Kanpetlet Authorities Urge Residents to Build Shelters
The Kanpetlet Township People’s Administration Team issued an emergency warning on June 21, urging every household to construct bomb shelters.
The warning followed the June 19 airstrike on a displacement site near Kyindwe, where five people were killed and more than ten injured despite no active fighting in the area.
Local authorities stressed that residents should immediately seek shelter whenever aircraft activity is reported, as the military has intensified attacks on civilian targets throughout the township. Similar air raids have also continued in neighboring Mindat Township, where nearly thirty bombing runs were reportedly carried out on June 20 alone.

- New Conscript Defects to Resistance Forces
COBRA ONE Pakokku announced that a newly recruited soldier from Infantry Battalion 235 under Division 101 defected on June 18.
The soldier, identified as Paw Oo, had completed military training only about a month earlier. He reportedly said he had been forcibly recruited while returning home from work in Paukkaung Township, Bago Region.
After training, he was transferred to Pakokku and was reportedly being prepared for deployment to the Rakhine front before escaping and contacting resistance forces.
COBRA ONE stated that other conscripts seeking freedom are welcome to defect and would receive rewards if they bring weapons with them.
According to data collected by the People’s Goal organization, a total of 3,456 junta personnel—including defectors, surrendering troops, and prisoners of war—have been recorded since January 2025 through the second week of June 2026.

- Police Officer Allegedly Kidnapped and Sold into Fishing Labor
In Mawlamyine, Mon State, a police officer assigned to parliamentary security was allegedly abducted by three men linked to junta recruitment efforts and sold into the fishing industry.
The officer, Zaw Win Htun, was reportedly seized on June 19 while visiting Nagamauk Pagoda. Despite identifying himself as a police officer, he was forcibly taken away.
He was later transported to Kyaikkhami and allegedly sold to a labor broker for 1.2 million kyats. The broker became suspicious after he insisted he was a police officer and could not work on fishing vessels, prompting her to notify local authorities.
Police subsequently confirmed his identity and arrested three suspects. Authorities also reportedly seized military recruitment assistant identification cards from the suspects.

- Heavy Fighting in Shweku and Khampat
KIA spokesperson Colonel Naw Bu stated that a junta column advancing from Shweku Township, Kachin State, was forced to retreat after suffering significant casualties.
Since June 11, intense clashes have continued in the area. The military column has reportedly been surrounded by KIA and KPDF forces and has relied heavily on airstrikes for support. Some police personnel and newly trained conscripts are also said to have fled or surrendered during the fighting.
Meanwhile, fierce battles continue in Khampat, a strategic town on the Kalay–Tamu trade route in Sagaing Region. Junta forces have regained control of parts of Wards 2 and 4, while clashes remain ongoing near Ward 1 and Kanan Ward.
Local sources reported that the offensive involves junta troops, newly trained conscripts, members of the Shan Ni Army (SNA), Kuki armed groups, and Naga fighters.

- Myanmar Ambassador to the UN Criticizes Junta
Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, told a UN briefing in New York that the military regime continues committing war crimes and crimes against humanity despite plans to hold elections and shift from military uniforms to civilian attire.
He argued that the proposed election is merely an attempt to legitimize military rule and urged the international community to reject both the process and its results.
The ambassador also highlighted ongoing airstrikes, arbitrary arrests, forced conscription, sexual violence, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings, calling for stronger international action.

- 2,000 Teak Trees Planted for Aung San Suu Kyi’s 81st Birthday
In Khin-U Township, Sagaing Region, local authorities and community members planted 2,000 teak trees to commemorate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 81st birthday.
The project was jointly organized by township administrative, defense, and natural resource committees. Last year, 800 teak trees were planted along the same route to mark her 80th birthday.

- IEC Grants Amnesty to 39 Prisoners
To mark the 151st Karenni National Day on June 21, the Interim Executive Council (IEC) of Karenni State granted amnesty to 39 prisoners.
The amnesty applies to individuals convicted before June 21, 2026, and was issued under the authority granted by the Karenni Interim Arrangement.
Last year, on the 150th Karenni National Day, the IEC granted amnesty and sentence reductions to 28 prisoners.
