Here are today’s main stories.
1. NUG Regional Military Office Hit by Airstrikes
An NUG Special Regional Military Office near the border of Mon State and Bago Region was reportedly attacked by military aircraft on September 24.
According to local sources, at least six resistance members, including CDM Sergeant Nay Win Aung and five PDF members, were killed. The office commander, Aung San Shar, was reportedly injured.
Pro-military channels claimed that CDM Major Tin Lin Aung was also killed, but local sources said he was safe. NUG’s Ministry of Defence and the Special Regional Military Office had not officially confirmed the incident at the time of the report.
2. Resistance Forces Raid a Pyu Saw Htee Outpost in Kanbalu
Resistance forces reportedly raided a Pyu Saw Htee outpost near Pyin Taw Village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region.
The attack reportedly lasted about 15 minutes, during which around seven Pyu Saw Htee members were killed. The resistance groups said they seized five carbines, ammunition, equipment, helmets, magazines and five motorcycles.
Several local PDF groups reportedly took part in the operation and withdrew without casualties.
3. Police Officer Describes Village Burnings; Three Conscripts Defect
A police officer from Myit Kye Police Station in Pakokku Township reportedly said that military columns had burned and destroyed villages during their operations.
Police Captain Thant Zin, who was arrested in June, reportedly described seeing villages being burned under the stated objective of “area clearance.”
The report also said that three military conscripts from Minbu District defected and joined a resistance unit. They were reportedly placed in a safe location together with their families.
4. 38 Resistance Members Reportedly Surrender
Thirty-eight members of two LPDF groups operating near Sagaing’s Saltan area, along with members of the Wetlet PDF, reportedly surrendered to the military on September 22.
The group reportedly included 29 men, three women and six family members. They reportedly arrived at Saltan Police Station with 13 weapons.
A resistance statement alleged that some of the groups had committed violations in resistance-controlled areas, including operating unauthorized checkpoints and demanding money from civilians.
5. Seven-Year-Old Student Killed by Artillery Shell in Myingyan
A seven-year-old kindergarten student was reportedly killed after an artillery shell struck a monastic school in Da Kyaung Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region.
Local sources said the shell was fired from an army battalion based in Myingyan on September 23, despite there being no fighting in the area at the time.
A Grade 7 student and a Grade 2 student were also reportedly injured.
6. Heavy Fighting Reported in Hkawnglangphu
Heavy fighting has reportedly broken out in Hkawnglangphu Township, Kachin State, after the military launched a counteroffensive to retake a strategic base with a helicopter landing site.
According to the KIA information department, KIA forces captured military and militia positions near Border Marker 30 on September 18.
The military and allied militia forces reportedly launched a counteroffensive to regain the positions. KIA also reported that more than 190 young people from areas around Putao, Machyangbaw and Naungmoon had reportedly been recruited for military reinforcement, while civilians were allegedly being forced to carry supplies.
7. PDF Zoland Calls for New Recruits
PDF Zoland has called on people who want to fight, as well as those who value freedom and justice, to join its basic military training program.
The group said that ending authoritarian rule and fighting injustice is a responsibility for the current generation.
PDF Zoland also called on people to actively participate rather than simply observe, and said it welcomes new members who want to take part in the resistance movement.
8. Around 80 Prisoners at Kalay Prison Reportedly Need Urgent Medical Treatment
Around 80 prisoners at Kalay Prison in Sagaing Region, including approximately 50 political prisoners, reportedly urgently need treatment at outside hospitals.
The Political Prisoners Network Myanmar, or PPNM, said specialist doctors from Kalay General Hospital examined prisoners in July and confirmed that 80 required outside medical treatment.
However, only nine prisoners had reportedly been allowed to receive treatment outside the prison, including four political prisoners.
The report also described shortages of medicine, oxygen and emergency medical equipment. It said prisoners suffering from serious illnesses, including heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, were facing difficulties obtaining adequate medical care.
9. First Political Dialogue Among Mon, Karen and Pa-O Youth
A political dialogue involving Mon, Karen and Pa-O youth was reportedly held for the first time under the initiative of the New Ramanya Federal Force.
Representatives from nine organizations reportedly attended the two-day event.
The discussions focused on building mutual understanding and trust, reviewing current political developments and discussing the role of young people in political leadership and the resistance movement.
The participants also reportedly agreed to strengthen practical cooperation in the future.
10. Chinese Livestreamer Wang Ran Reportedly Kidnapped in Myanmar
Chinese livestreamer Wang Ran, 24, was reportedly kidnapped after traveling to Bangkok for a job arranged by someone she met online.
According to Chinese media reports cited by m.CDM, she was allegedly taken from Thailand into Myanmar and lost contact with her family.
She later reportedly contacted her family by video call and demanded that 600,000 yuan, or approximately 35 million Myanmar kyats according to the report, be paid as ransom.
Her family reportedly reported the case to police in Nanjing, China, and authorities investigating online scam networks have begun an investigation.
11. More Than 2,000 People Reportedly Arrested Over Social Media Posts
Data For Myanmar reportedly said that 2,029 people had been arrested or prosecuted for criticizing the military takeover or expressing support for anti-coup activities.
According to its records, cases have been reported in 227 townships, with Yangon, Mandalay and Bago among the areas with the highest numbers.
The 2,029 people reportedly include 1,315 men and 714 women. The cases involved social media platforms including Facebook, TikTok, Telegram, Viber and YouTube.
Data For Myanmar also warned social media users to take precautions to protect their personal information, particularly when traveling, as phone checks and monitoring of online activity were reportedly taking place.
