Myanmar Military News Updates – Oct 22, 2025 Morning

🚩🚩 1. PDF Forces Launch Attack on Military Commission Camp in Ywar Thit Village — 15 Soldiers, Including Battalion Commander, Killed; 2 Captured Alive

According to a statement released by the Naypyitaw PDF, revolutionary forces attacked a military commission battalion that had set up camp in Ywar Thit Village, located east of the Sittaung River in Yedashe Township, Bago Region. The assault resulted in the deaths of 15 junta troops, including the battalion commander, and the capture of 2 soldiers alive.

The attack occurred on October 20, when the strategic combat column formed under the command of Operation Area No. (2) of the Naypyitaw Military Command launched an offensive against the junta unit of about 60 troops stationed in the village.

During the engagement, 15 soldiers, including the battalion commander Nyi Nyi Naing, were killed, while 2 others were captured alive. Seized from the site were:

  • 1 MA-11 rifle
  • 1 MA-3 rifle
  • 3 G-3 rifles
  • 1 60mm mortar
  • 1 pistol
  • 5 mortar shells (60mm)
  • 10 magazines
  • 1 drone jammer device
  • Approximately 1,000 rounds of ammunition
  • 1 generator.

The deceased commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nyi Nyi Naing, was identified as the leader of Air Defense Battalion (LAKTA-2029). Reports state that he resisted capture by drawing a pistol and was shot dead on the spot.

After the clash, junta troops retreated from their base, allowing the revolutionary forces to completely overrun the camp and liberate villagers who had been trapped under junta bombardment and airstrikes.

Currently, the military council forces have reinforced their positions and are attempting to re-enter the area, leading to continuing skirmishes. Civilians residing near the Sittaung River region have been urged to remain vigilant and limit movement for safety.

🚩🚩 2. Military Council Bombs Zathal Village School in Haka Township, Chin State

According to a statement by the Senthang Central Council, the junta forces carried out aerial bombings targeting a village school in Zathal VillageSenthang areaHaka TownshipChin State.

The Council strongly condemned the terrorist junta’s deliberate airstrikes against children and civilians, calling it a heinous war crime.

The attack occurred twice — at 12:55 p.m. and 1:03 p.m. on October 21 — when two aerial bombs were dropped on Zathal Village school.

The Senthang Central Council stated that the military council continues to commit acts of violence and intimidation against civilians as part of its efforts to secure control over its unlawful “election” agenda.

The Council also issued a warning to the public, urging them not to participate in the junta’s illegal election process, to suspend all school operations indefinitely, and to avoid any form of gathering or public congregation to ensure safety.

🚩🚩 3. Junta Airstrike Kills 3 Children, Injures 12 Civilians in Mogok

According to a statement by the PSLF/TNLA Brigade (4), an airstrike by the military council in Mogok City, a region under the brigade’s control in Mandalay Regionkilled three children and injured twelve civilians.

At 2:58 p.m. on October 21, a fighter jet dropped two 250-pound bombs on an area near the Kan Thone Lone Futsal Field in Kan Taw Quarter.

The explosion instantly killed three children:

  • Ma Mun Thu (aged 12)
  • Ma Khu Tha (aged 6)
  • Ma Char Shee (aged 10)

Additionally, 12 civilians, including other children, sustained injuries, and 11 houses along with one futsal field were damaged by the blast.

🚩🚩 4. Junta Airstrike Targets Union Highway Near Palaw Township

According to local reports, on October 21, the terrorist military forces conducted an airstrike on the Union Highway near Thingan Taw VillagePalaw TownshipTanintharyi Region.

Although there were no civilian casualties because no travelers were present at the time, the road sustained severe damage due to the impact of the bombs.

🚩🚩 5. Three Junta Soldiers Defect With Weapons in Tanintharyi and Naungcho Townships

According to separate reports, three junta soldiers defected with their weapons in Tanintharyi Township (Tanintharyi Region) and Naungcho Township (Shan State).

On September 28 and October 2two soldiers from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 103 contacted the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) in Tanintharyi Township and successfully defected.

The defectors brought with them one MA-2 riflefour magazines, and 260 rounds of ammunition. They were warmly received by the Tanintharyi Township PDF, according to reports.

Similarly, in Naungcho Township, a junta soldier named Ko Aung Kyaw, from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 243, who had been assigned to a road construction security unitescaped from his post and surrendered to the Kyaukme District Special Task Force.

It was learned that Ko Aung Kyaw had previously been arrested in Kyauk Wine, Mandalay, and later enlisted as a military conscript in Namlan Township, where he served in the 12th weekly training batch.

🚩🚩 6. Kawthoung District Battalion (1) Declares Firm Opposition to the Junta’s Illegal Sham Election and False Peace Process

The Kawthoung District Battalion (1) issued a statement declaring that it completely rejects and will not permit the illegal and deceptive election or the so-called peace process orchestrated by the terrorist military council as part of its attempt to prolong its authoritarian rule.

The statement emphasized that holding an election without the consent of the people or legitimate representatives constitutes not only a violation of democratic principles, but also a direct usurpation of the people’s sovereign authority.

The Battalion urged all citizens to stand firmly and resolutely against participation in any way that might legitimize the junta’s fraudulent election or peace façade.

Furthermore, it called on all ward and village administrative committees appointed by the junta to immediately cease activities such as providing voter listsrecruiting new conscripts, or collecting military service fees in support of the election.

As the sham election approaches, the Battalion also advised local residents to avoid cooperating with the junta, keep distance from junta convoys, and stay away from polling stations to ensure their safety.
