ππ 1. Nway Oo University Announces Academic Calendar for the Upcoming 2026β2027 Academic Year

Nway Oo University has officially announced the academic schedule for the 2026β2027 academic year today, October 29.
The announcement, issued under the National Unity Government (NUG) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar β Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education β carries the reference number PaNyaYa/ MaNuTa/Academic Affairs/2025 (008).
According to the statement, starting from the 2026β2027 academic year, Nway Oo University will divide the school year into two semesters.
The First Semester will run from January 5 to May 4, spanning four months.
The Second Semester will be from July 1 to October 31, also lasting four months.
There will be a two-month break between the two semesters.
Nway Oo University also announced that it will implement a Dual Semester System, meaning that both semesters will be open for study within the same academic year.

ππ 2. IIMM Chief Says Personal Data of Perpetrators of Military War Crimes in Myanmar Are Being Collected

Nicholas Koumjian, Head of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM), has announced that the mechanism is currently collecting personal data on perpetrators and military commanders responsible for war crimes committed by the Myanmar military.
He made this statement during the Third Committee meeting of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, held at the UN Headquarters in New York City, USA.
Koumjian explained that the IIMM has obtained evidence of torture and sexual violence perpetrated by the military against detainees. The mechanism has also gathered the personal information of the perpetrators and commanders involved.
He added that the number and severity of international crimes occurring in Myanmar have been steadily increasing.
According to him, the IIMM has engaged with over 1,300 sources, including more than 600 witness testimonies and various forms of documentary and digital evidence.
The IIMM is giving priority to investigations concerning the militaryβs airstrikes, particularly those targeting schools, hospitals, homes, and religious sites.
He further stated that evidence collected by the IIMM is already being used by the International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutorβs Office and Argentine Federal Criminal Court investigators.
Additionally, the IIMM has been sharing relevant data with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for use in The Gambiaβs case against Myanmar for failing to uphold its obligations under the Genocide Convention to prevent and punish genocide.
The IIMM is also cooperating with governments investigating individuals and companies that have violated domestic laws by supplying weapons or military equipment used in the commission of these crimes in Myanmar.
Koumjian affirmed that the IIMM stands ready to work collaboratively with member states represented at the meeting to ensure justice and accountability for those responsible for serious international crimes committed in Myanmar.

ππ 3. Anti-Fake Election Demonstration to Be Held in Washington D.C.

Organizers have announced that a demonstration in Washington D.C. will be held to condemn and reject the sham election being planned by the military junta.
The protest aims to raise international awareness about the illegitimate and unlawful election the juntaβs self-appointed election commission is attempting to stage.
The event will involve Burmese ethnic community organizations, revolutionary groups from various states, and pro-revolution artists living in the eastern United States, who will jointly participate in this demonstration.
The protest is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, in Washington D.C.
To facilitate participation, NYCBC (New York City Burmese Community) has arranged Air Bus transportation to and from the event for those joining from New York City.
The round-trip transportation fee, including breakfast and lunch, will cost USD 90 per person. Revolutionary brothers and sisters who wish to take part are encouraged to contact NYCBC members to register and reserve seats in advance.
Organizers have also reminded participants that seats are limited, and advance reservations are strongly advised.
