📌📌 1. The Terrorizing Acts of the Myanmar Military Continue, Says Myanmar Ambassador to the United Nations
October 11
Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, stated that the terrorist military junta continues to commit brutal atrocities with the deliberate intention of instilling fear among the Myanmar people.
Speaking during the general debate under the theme “Social Development” at the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues, held on October 9, U Kyaw Moe Tun condemned the junta’s ongoing campaign of violence.
He pointed out that the junta’s systematic acts of cruelty—designed to terrorize citizens—are part of its calculated strategy to pave the way for a sham election it is preparing. This election, he said, is intended to legitimize its illegal seizure of power.
The Ambassador emphasized that as the people continue to face immense hardship, the junta has been relentlessly committing heinous crimes against civilians, including indiscriminate airstrikes, the burning and destruction of villages, and the forced displacement of innocent residents.
He explained that these acts are not random but part of a broad, organized campaign to silence dissenting voices and suppress the will of the people.
U Kyaw Moe Tun also stressed that the military’s ability to continue these atrocities stems largely from the lack of effective international action and, in some cases, the direct or indirect support from certain states. This international inaction, he warned, has emboldened the junta to act with impunity.
He cautioned that unless the global community takes meaningful and coordinated measures, the military will continue committing grave crimes against the people of Myanmar without consequence.
Calling for the immediate end of the military dictatorship, U Kyaw Moe Tun urged the international community to intensify efforts—through all possible means—to help restore peace and establish a Federal Democratic Union that ensures safety, dignity, and justice for all.
He also highlighted that the UN Security Council has the power to refer the situation in Myanmar to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and urged the Council to act without further delay.

📌📌 2. U Kyaw Moe Tun Urges the International Community to Stand with the People of Myanmar in Their Struggle for a New, Just, and Peaceful Future
October 11
Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations, U Kyaw Moe Tun, called on the international community and all UN member states to stand firmly with the people of Myanmar, who are striving to achieve a new future grounded in justice and peace.
He made these remarks during the general debate of the UN General Assembly’s Sixth Committee (Legal Committee) on the topic of “The Rule of Law at the National and International Levels”, held from October 8 to 10. Around 100 member states and international organizations delivered statements at the session.
U Kyaw Moe Tun delivered his address on October 9, where he emphasized that genuine peace and trust can only be established when the rule of law prevails. He warned that when the rule of law collapses—as it has in Myanmar since the illegal military coup—impunity and tyranny take root.
He pointed out that following the junta’s unlawful power seizure, Myanmar has experienced a complete breakdown of justice, with the terrorist military committing countless atrocities and systematic human rights violations against civilians across the country.
The collapse of the rule of law, he noted, has also turned Myanmar into a hub for transnational crimes such as online scam syndicates, human trafficking, and narcotics smuggling.
U Kyaw Moe Tun further explained that the junta’s planned election is entirely illegitimate under both domestic and international law. He described it as a manipulative attempt to whitewash their crimes and give false legitimacy to their unlawful rule.
He therefore called on the international community and all UN member states to unequivocally reject the junta’s fraudulent election and to stand united with the people of Myanmar in their struggle to build a new, peaceful, and democratic nation.

📌📌 3. Seventeen Political Prisoners Illegally Placed in Solitary Confinement at Daik-U Prison
October 11
The Myanmar Political Prisoners Network (PPNM) announced that seventeen political prisoners at Daik-U Prison in Bago Region have been unjustly placed in solitary confinement under the pretext of holding a “gathering” inside the prison.
According to PPNM, these prisoners did not commit any offense. They had merely reported to a dormitory officer after a group of criminal inmates assaulted a political prisoner, asking that the matter be addressed. Instead of resolving the complaint, prison authorities punished those who reported the assault by accusing them of organizing a gathering and placing them in solitary confinement.
Starting from October 2, the seventeen political prisoners were separated into groups of five and confined to punishment cells, with shackles placed on their legs.
The prisoners being unjustly punished are identified as:
Ko Nyan Linn Naing, Ko Thet Oo Paing, Ko Khant Nyar Thu, Ko Lin, Ko Kyaw Linn Maung, Ko Zaw Myo, Ko Shan Lay, Ko Min Naing Tun (aka Kyet Hpa Gyi), Ko Kyaw Thura Win (aka Kyaw Gyi), Ko Zaw Min Htaik, Ko Myo Gyi, Ko Zaw Gyi, Ko Zin Myo Htaik, Ko Htet Linn, Ko Zinko Phyo, Ko Arkar Min, and Ko Bu Thi.
PPNM stated that the Daik-U Prison authorities and prison commanders must be held accountable for these unlawful punitive actions and the related human rights violations.
Among over 40 prisons monitored nationwide by PPNM, Daik-U Prison is reported to be one of the top five facilities where political prisoners face the most severe oppression and abuse.
The organization noted that Daik-U Prison has also targeted female political detainees. In July this year, eight women political prisoners were forcibly taken from their dormitory and placed in the men’s compound without any valid reason, where they were subjected to punishment and mistreatment.
PPNM has demanded the immediate release of all seventeen prisoners from solitary confinement and their return to their original cells. The network affirmed its commitment to continue working to ensure justice for all political prisoners across Myanmar.
