Union Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung Warns Against Falling into the Enemy’s Narrative by Reading Only Headlines

Union Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung has issued a warning on social media, urging people to avoid falling into traps set by the enemy by reading only the headlines of news articles.

She emphasized the importance of discernment by quoting U Win Tin: “If the path is the same, people will meet.” She highlighted the need to distinguish between allies and adversaries in political conflicts and to avoid superficial judgments based solely on headlines.

The minister cautioned against letting hatred of the oppressive State Administration Council (SAC) divide the democratic movement and the forces of the Spring Revolution (both visible and invisible). She stressed that if the revolution is to succeed quickly, people must act with careful consideration.

Daw Zin Mar Aung pointed out that under the SAC’s oppressive regime, where access to accurate information is limited, it is dangerous to critique or draw conclusions based on headlines or a single interview without fully analyzing the context and details. She likened this behavior to “a blindfolded attempt to examine an elephant.”

She also warned against behaviors that could weaken mutual trust among revolutionary forces by exploiting public emotions. She said that the SAC often uses people’s hatred of it to instigate internal conflicts and mistrust among allies. As such, the minister called for responsibility in actions, words, and attitudes while safeguarding the unity of revolutionary forces.

The minister reminded everyone that the people’s revolution will not end with the fall of the SAC. She pointed out that nation-building requires resolving longstanding issues of division within a fragile state, which had existed even after independence.

In the current phase of rebuilding a united future, Daw Zin Mar Aung urged revolutionary groups to focus on finding common ground despite differing perspectives and strategies. She warned that conflicts between allies that escalate into hostility only serve the enemy’s interests.

She also reminded everyone not to lose sight of the truth amidst the complex and challenging journey of the Spring Revolution, emphasizing the many untold stories and sacrifices along the way.

Finally, she expressed hope for 2025 to mark the SAC’s final days and called for the perseverance to overcome the challenges and uncertainties of this transitional period by learning from history. Only then, she said, could the country avoid further political tragedies.
