Is it a Kalon football match that is extending the term over and over again just like kicking football overtime?

The National Defense and Security Council (NDSC) meeting (Kalon meeting) was held today in Nay Pyi Taw on July 31, and the emergency period has been extended for another six-month term. This was announced today at 4:45 p.m. Myanmar time on MRTV (Myanmar Radio and Television), which is controlled by the military council. According to RFA Burmese news, today’s Kalon meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Military Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Acting President U Myint Swe, Vice President during the NLD government U Henry Van Thio, and Parliament Speaker U T Khun Myat.

What they mean by the current Kalon meeting is that – according to the 2008 Constitution, the President, Vice President, Speaker of the Parliament, and prominent ministers are all present. However, the previous government’s Foreign Minister and State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint, and Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Winn Khaing Thann did not attend the meeting. Except for the coup military council replacing the president and foreign minister with people from their military, the rest of the government members are former people who played along with the military.

In 2015, during the NLD government regime led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, she prioritized national reconciliation and reconciliation with the military group. She established friendships with people from all walks of life. Some of those who were friends with the NLD party and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi are no longer friends who stand by their own side since the military coup, and they have become carpets used by the enemy, supporters of the military dictatorship, and those who dare not stand up to the military group.

An audience commented that the military council’s repeated use of the excuse of the emergency period to extend its term is like a football game that has to go into overtime even after the 90-minute full-time kickoff. And also, putting people who switched teams (changed sides from the previous NLD government) into their team is just like a joke. Actually, it’s really not a joke. Friends and trusted political colleagues were seen kneeling in submission to the military council.

In order to remove Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and cancel the results of the 2020 election, the use of Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein and crony entrepreneur Maung Weik and all the communities at will by the military council is the unforgettable event to be recorded for Myanmar civilians and revolutionaries of the Spring Revolution. Moreover, those who were friendly with the NLD party previously, did not want to admit their weakness, their fears of the military council’s manipulation, or kneel down under the power and bullies of the military council. Then, they stood up for the military council’s coup d’état and criticized the spring revolution. This was also commented on, saying that they are lining up to enter the military football match during the next military dictator’s more painful overtime.

On the same day that the military council extended its term with the excuse of the state of emergency, the US government condemned the announcement. The U.S. government has criticized the extension of the term of the military council that has been killing, burning, and destroying for 2 and a half years, making 1.6 million people homeless, saying it will only make Burma worse. On the same day, the NUG and NUCC held an emergency meeting and said that they would continue the Spring Revolution according to their stance.

Acting President Duwa Lashi La said at the meeting: “We have a Federal Democratic Charter. (1) The complete eradication of dictatorship and (2) the establishment of a federal union are the main goals. This is the most important route. Our political path has already been established. No matter what the difficulties or threats are, it is important not to get into the plot set by the terrorist military junta.” In addition, the NUCC pointed out that it is not a Regime Change but a System Change.

On the same day, the famous New York Times newspaper of the United States published a news article titled – “The Country That Bombs Its Own People”, which presented information, photos, and videos of people being bombed and the holocaust during the term of the military coup. According to the data they collected, the Myanmar military killed more than 3,400 people and displaced more than 1.5 million.

With the excuse of extending their term to maintain the state of emergency in the country, wanting to avoid the risk of the 2008 Constitution’s abolishment if they declare the coup d’état officially, the announcement of the extension of its term by showing off members of the government from the previous regime on their side in the Kalon meeting to embellish the excuse of maintaining state power, and unable to make progress for the election that they had promised to hold, they extended their term. I would like to say that even though the military regime term has been extended for another 6 months amidst the various limitations and the crisis, they have experienced no effective impact of the extension on the international community or the people.
