4 villagers of Pazigyi were taken action by the NUG as military informants

According to reports, the People’s Defense Forces under the NUG detained and questioned a few villagers and a village monk because it was thought that some of the villagers had provided information to the military council, resulting in the military council’s air force bombing on April 11 in Pazigyi Village, Kanbalu Township. A few days later, the NUG announced that it would prosecute 3 men and 1 woman for giving information to the military council.

A 30-year-old woman and three other middle-aged men have been charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the statement stated, but did not provide details on how they were communicated. Another woman and 550 Sayadaw U Varsava, who actively supported the military council and led the formation of the militia from Mawtaw village, Kanbalu Township, were also reported to have been charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The airstrike that took place in Pazigyi village was the military council’s attack that caused the most casualties in a single incident, and it will be recorded as one of the worst incidents in the past 2 years.

Regarding this incident, is it fair that some of the villagers will be prosecuted under the Anti-Terrorism Act? Due to the fact that he informed the pro-military council forces of another village about the information that a civilian could know, there are questions such as whether a case should be opened under the anti-terrorism law.

An important question is whether there can be a systematic judiciary, knowledgeable legal staff, and fair laws that do not include oppression under such armed attacks and fleeing.

There is to be discussion regarding the causes of airstrikes on Pazigyi Village, whether the attack is due to informants’ information, or whether it is more important to prepare to prevent such incidents from happening, such as changing their strategy and rules to minimize casualties after taking lessons from the strategies and tactics of attacking a mix of civilians and people’s defense forces used by the military council.

Whenever they are attacked, the military council troops retaliate against nearby villages, arrest and torture civilians, and in the worst cases, kill them to death. As punishment, they often burn houses, destroy property, and destroy food, and these activities can be called anti-public activities. The use of force by armed organizations against civilians is a violation of human rights.

On the other hand, the NUG, which claims to be fighting for democratic rights and federal rights, should not imitate the laws and methods used by the military council troops and should act according to their own standards and values in making the revolution.

At this time, we should be careful not to blame those close to us for reporting on the military council’s brutality and weapons-based behavior, and to avoid the accumulation of revenge and resentment. It is important not to forget that this is a revolution that is working against the military dictatorship system, ideology, way of working, and attitudes.
