The Acting President writes to the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits, expressing his hope that ASEAN will reject the military dictators’ sham elections

Acting President Duwa Lashi La sent a letter dated November 8 to the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits, saying that he hoped ASEAN would reject the sham elections of the military dictators.

It is stated in the letter of the Acting President that the proposed elections of the military junta are not only a sham and illegal, but they will certainly cause greater instability in Myanmar and the region, and therefore hoping that ASEAN rejects the junta’s sham elections.

In addition, the Acting President suggested that ASEAN engage with the National Unity Government, the National Unity Consultative Council, and other stakeholders and also requested that ASEAN convene an all-inclusive humanitarian assistance forum to address the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Myanmar.

 

NUG Union Minister Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong says that the military council can no longer control the ground situation in Chin State

In an interview in November, Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong, Union Minister of Federal Union Affairs, said the following:

“The military council conducted various operations against Chin State, including the Anawrathta operation. But every time, their operations fail. In this kind of situation, the military council certainly cannot control the ground.”

In addition, in the presentation by the Chief Minister of Chin State, appointed by the military council, it was reported that only two of the seven townships in Chin State will be able to hold elections in 2023.

On November 11, at the meeting of the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the extended people’s administration groups, Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye said, “It is important to coordinate between people’s administration groups (PaAhPha), people’s defense forces (PaKaPha), and people’s security forces (PaLaPha) in the development of administrative activities; it is necessary to implement public service activities efficiently and quickly, and to carry out the revolution with mutual support and a good connection to the end.”

After that, the Deputy Ministers who attended each said greeting, and officials gave a briefing on the activities being carried out by the ministries, and exchanged views on difficulties faced the extended people’s administration groups on the ground.

Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and member of the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC), led the meeting, and Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Joint Permanent Secretaries, persons in charge of the extended people’s administration groups, and officials from relevant departments attended the meeting.

On November 10, the meeting (2/2022) was held between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and the district administration bodies.

At the meeting, the Joint Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration delivered an opening speech, saying that the district people’s administration bodies must always connect with the township groups and solve process issues; as the pace of military action by the junta increases in Sagaing and Magway Divisions, it is necessary to cooperate with the township groups in order to minimize the harm to the public; there is a plan to develop and implement security plans for each district; and as the establishment of a federal democratic union is underway, ground contact will always be made and the advice of those who are working on the ground will always be taken.

The military launched air attacks in Ye-U Township, Sagaing Division, with military helicopters this morning

Tabayin Township IDP Support Team confirmed that the military’s air wing conducted air attacks on November 11 morning.

It states, “The terrorist military is launching airstrikes with two MI-35 and two Mi-17 helicopters at a place in Ye-U Township. People are fleeing to safety, so they need help.”

Last September 16, a school in Let Yet Kone Village, Tabayin Township, Sagaing Division, was attacked by a Mi-35 helicopter of the arm wing of the terrorist military junta, and the 368th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB-368) fired with heavy weapons and small arms, resulting in the deaths of a total of 7 children.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) reported that U Kyi Soe, an NLD township executive and his brother, U Min Ko, who live in Ward No.1, Tilin Town, Magway Division, were arrested at their home on the night of November 8 by police from Tilin Myoma Police Station, accusing them of being associated with the People’s Defense Forces.

According to the AAPP, since the coup on February 2021 to November 10, 2022, a total of 12,925 people have been arrested and detained, 1,633 of whom are serving sentences. As of November 10, 2022, there are a total of 86 post-coup death row prisoners.

This morning, five soldiers were killed by a bomb attack while a group of eight soldiers on guard duty at the Myinmu branch of the Myanmar Economic Bank (state-owned financial institution controlled by junta) fell asleep.

The Zero Guerrilla Force, Myingyan District Battalion-7, reported, “This morning at 5:02 a.m., we conducted a bomb attack on eight soldiers who were sleeping while guarding at Myinmu Myanmar Economic Bank, killing five and seriously injuring one.”
