Fundraiser for Rakhine in Burma on July 8th

On the 8th of July, the San Francisco Burmese Community held a Food Fair at the Newark Pavilion. The purpose of this event was to raise money to support the relief effort for the Rakhine people.

There were 30 donors who participated by setting up stands and selling food.

800 people from all over the Bay Area attended this event. $10,000 has been raised so far. The money will go towards FFSS (Free Funeral Service Society) Yangon, which will then go into helping to the Rakhine people who are in need.

The event was not only successful, but was fun for all who were a part of this. When asking a vendor how he made the food, his reply was he looked up the recipe on YouTube. He continues to say that it was his first time making the dish and he, along with his customers, is happy with the outcome.
