Regarding this activity, NLD CEC member U Win Tin said “It’s good! We, in fact, want to do this plan for all 2200 of the imprisoned. But, we are, at present, not able to help some. Therefore, we started supporting some 600 political prisoners of the NLD. It will be extended later.”
Today, NLD members and donors drew lots and took responsibility for over 300 political prisoners among 600 of those compiled currently by NLD. According to the Thailand-based Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) and Human-Rights organizations, it is learnt that there are 2200 political prisoners approximately in Burma.
An ex-political prisoner expressed his view that it is not good to hear that over 50 million Burmese, who want changes, are not able to support over 2000 anti-dictatorship activists. It is also quite a weak point that there are not 2000 supporters, who will stand by some 2000 political prisoners in Burma.
