Eight Burmese residing in California became monks at Dhamma Joti Center under the guidance of residing monks at Dhamma Joti Burmese Buddhist Monastery. They became monks for couple of days giving up their freedom of normal human being and to follow and abide by the rules and teaching of Buddhism to realize and appreciate the noble life of being a monk.

This is to honor the one year anniversary of Burmese Saffron Revolution where Burmese monks and people staged peaceful protests to the Burmese military junta back in September 2007 but it ended with brutal crackdown. By trying to follow the teachings of Buddhism and practicing it as monks, they would like to accomplish moral good deeds to share this loving kindness to the monks and people that passed away at the crackdown and also to the Burmese people still suffering the tyranny of the ruling junta.
