- KNLA and DNLA ambush military column in Ler Doh Soe Township; 12 troops reportedly killed

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA) ambushed a military column advancing into Ler Doh Soe Township in the Karen National Union’s Myeik-Dawei District, reportedly killing 12 troops and seizing weapons and ammunition, according to a statement released by the KNU’s Myeik-Dawei District information office on August 30.
The attack took place at around 6:30 a.m. on August 29 near Maung Mae Shaung village. Joint forces from KNLA Brigade 4, including units from Battalions 12 and 10, together with the DNLA, reportedly carried out the ambush.
According to the statement, 12 military personnel were killed. Resistance forces seized six MA-1 rifles, two MA-3 rifles and ammunition.

- Military columns attacked in Mobye and Taungtha; at least 17 reportedly killed

A military column of nearly 200 troops advancing from Mobye toward the foothills of Loi Yin Mingalar in Pekon Township, near the Karenni-Shan border, withdrew after two consecutive days of attacks by Karenni resistance forces, according to military sources.
The column reportedly began its advance on August 27 with artillery and drone support. Resistance forces attacked it on August 27 and 28, reportedly killing at least 10 soldiers.
To support its withdrawal, the military reportedly fired more than 80 rounds of 60mm, 81mm and 120mm artillery from positions around Pekon, Mobye, Loikaw and Loilin Lay, while also conducting airstrikes.
Mobye PDF warned civilians to avoid roads connecting Loi Woing, the Loi Yin foothills, Li Wo and Nan Mae Khon because fighting could intensify.
Separately, in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, resistance forces attacked a military position in Wea Laung village using drones and heavy weapons. Taungtha Township PDF said seven soldiers were killed and several others wounded.
The attack occurred on August 28 after a military column arrived from the Kyaukpadaung area. The resistance reportedly used two heavy-weapon rounds and two 60mm drone-dropped bombs.

- Five soldiers captured as prisoners of war after fighting in Mindon Township

Resistance forces attacked a military column advancing through Mindon Township in Thayet District, Magway Region, causing casualties and later capturing five military personnel, according to PDF Thayet District Battalion 4.
A military column of about 200 troops was operating west of Mindon when approximately 50 soldiers left the main force to search for supplies. Resistance fighters ambushed them at around 7 p.m. on August 29.
The clash lasted about 10 minutes before the military unit withdrew. Resistance forces said they recovered an MA-3 rifle, 91 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, four magazines, a grenade, a mobile phone and the bodies of several soldiers.
On the same day, resistance forces also detained five troops who had reportedly fled another military column: one sergeant, two corporals and two newly recruited soldiers.
PDF Battalion 4 said the military has been deploying large numbers of troops, including newly conscripted personnel, in an effort to retake territory it previously lost in Mindon Township.

- KIA and KPDF capture military vessel near Shwegu

KIA and KPDF forces reportedly captured a military vessel on August 29 after it was damaged during attacks along the Ayeyarwady River in Shwegu Township, Kachin State.
The military flotilla was traveling upstream from Katha toward Shwegu when it came under drone attacks by KIA-led forces. One vessel was badly damaged, and attempts to tow or push it reportedly failed, forcing the military to abandon it.
A small military unit was initially left behind to guard the vessel, but the soldiers reportedly fled when KPDF forces approached.
Resistance fighters who boarded the vessel found that most equipment had already been removed. The engine was damaged and water was entering the hull, reportedly because the vessel had also been struck by 107mm rounds.
In another attack on August 29, KIA-led forces targeted three military vessels traveling from Shwegu toward Bhamo, reportedly setting one on fire. Sources claimed 16 military personnel, including an officer, were killed, while wounded personnel were evacuated by helicopter.
There have also been unconfirmed reports that senior officers, including commanders from Division 33, were seriously wounded and that officers from Infantry Battalion 120 were among those killed.
The flotilla is reportedly attempting to transport troops and supplies toward Bhamo while facing repeated attacks along the river.

- CDF-Thantlang captures ZRA outpost
m.CDM, August 30
CDF forces in Chin State announced that they had attacked and captured a Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA-EC) outpost near Nat Zan village.
According to CDF, the position was seized on August 28 before its forces withdrew. ZRA-EC personnel reportedly abandoned the post after suffering casualties.
CDF released photographs of weapons, ammunition and other materials it said were captured from the position in response to pro-military accounts disputing that the outpost had fallen.
CDF accused the ZRA-EC of cooperating with the military in operations in the area and said the attack was also linked to allegations that a displaced villager had previously been killed.
CDF is affiliated with the Chinland Council and was among the resistance forces that captured the town in May 2024. However, the resistance later lost control after renewed military and ZRA offensives in May 2026.
Military tensions remain high among junta forces, ZRA-EC and Chin resistance groups in the area.

- KNPP General Secretary and KSCC Chairman U Aung San Myint dies at 62

U Aung San Myint, Chairman of the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) and General Secretary of the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), passed away on August 30 at the age of 62.
He reportedly died while receiving medical treatment in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He had been suffering from underlying kidney and heart conditions.
U Aung San Myint was also involved with the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and served as a secretary-level member of the Steering Committee for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union (SCEF).
He was regarded as one of the figures involved in establishing administrative and judicial institutions in Karenni State and had spent many years participating in Karenni political and national liberation movements.
He advocated the removal of dictatorship and the establishment of a federal democratic union based on equality and full self-determination.
The SCEF said his death was a major loss not only to the Karenni national movement but also to the broader struggle to establish an inclusive federal democratic union.

- Letpadan resistance group provides assistance to displaced family with newborn baby

The Letpadan Township People’s Defence Organization said it provided 150,000 kyat, a bag of rice and other food supplies to a family whose baby was born while they were displaced by military operations in Letpadan Township, Bago Region.
The group said that in addition to participating in resistance operations, its members have also been assisting local communities.
Earlier this month, members worked with residents to repair village roads and sections damaged or made difficult to use by flooding during the rainy season.
The group said such activities are part of the public-service responsibilities of local People’s Defence Organizations in addition to their military duties.

- Two Gold Dream FC players missing in Yangon amid reports of forced recruitment for Military Service Batch 28

Two young futsal players from Gold Dream FC, which competes in the MFF Futsal League, have been missing in Yangon for more than 10 days, according to the club.
The missing players are 21-year-old Thiha Aung and 18-year-old Swan Htet Kyaw. They disappeared after playing a futsal match on August 19.
They reportedly traveled together by YBS bus from Thuwunna Stadium toward their accommodation in North Dagon. The club remained in telephone contact with them until they reached the 50 Kwae area of North Dagon, after which contact with both was lost.
Gold Dream FC said it has been searching for the players, filed a missing-person report and requested assistance from Myanmar Football Federation officials.
Some Yangon residents have raised concerns that the disappearances could be connected to reported military recruitment raids, although no connection has been confirmed.
Rangoon Scout Network has reported incidents in North Dagon, South Dagon and East Dagon in which groups of plainclothes men allegedly used private vehicles to seize young people.
Separately, Chinland FC player Pa Lung reportedly lost contact with his club for about a week after being taken away by a group of people. Sources close to him said he was eventually recovered near the Naypyidaw Expressway on August 29.
Similar recruitment operations are also being reported in Mandalay. Residents in Chanmyathazi and Amarapura said some neighborhoods have been ordering households to draw lots to provide one person for military service, while street arrests have also continued.
According to Voice of Mandalay, at least eight people were detained during nighttime operations in Chanmyathazi, Amarapura and Maha Aungmyay on August 29.
Reports indicate that people in their 30s and even 40s have been detained, with some residents disappearing after simply leaving home to shop or buy cigarettes or betel.
Residents of Monywa, Sagaing Region, have also reported arrests inside restaurants, food shops, tea shops and betel shops.
Sources say Military Service Training Batch 27 began without reaching its targeted number of recruits. As a result, recruitment and alleged forced detentions are reportedly being intensified ahead of Military Service Training Batch 28, scheduled for September.

- Woman killed after allegedly driving through AA-MNDAA checkpoint near Muse

A woman was shot and later died after allegedly driving her vehicle through a joint Arakan Army (AA) and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) checkpoint on the Union Highway between Muse and the 105-Mile area in northern Shan State.
The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. on August 29. Sources said checkpoint personnel attempted to stop the vehicle for inspection, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and drove into personnel and defensive barriers before fleeing.
The vehicle was pursued and repeatedly ordered to stop. When it continued, personnel opened fire, striking the driver.
She was transported to a hospital but reportedly died after arrival.
Some local residents claimed the driver may have been under the influence of drugs and behaving abnormally, but this allegation has not been independently verified.
It remains unclear whether any AA or MNDAA personnel were injured. The incident reportedly caused traffic congestion on the Muse–105 Mile Union Highway for nearly an hour.
