1. KIA Attacks Helicopter Rescuing an Injured Major in Bhamo

m.CDM – March 6
In Bhamo, Kachin State, a Mi-17 helicopter sent to evacuate an injured major from the military council forces during a battle was attacked by a joint force led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), according to military sources.
At around 2 PM on March 6, the helicopter attempting to rescue the injured major was fired upon by KIA and allied resistance forces using heavy weapons.
During the attack, the helicopter’s fuel tank was hit, causing thick smoke to rise. It attempted to land at Light Infantry Battalion (56) in Shwegu, but failed to reach the base and instead made an emergency landing outside the town.
After the incident, the military council provided air cover using Y-12 aircraft and jet fighters, and reportedly carried out bombing attacks around the area where the helicopter landed.
KIA spokesperson Colonel Naw Bu said that they had heard reports about the helicopter being shot at but were still verifying the situation on the ground.
Previously, in May 2025, KIA allied forces shot down three military helicopters sent as reinforcements to Bhamo. One crashed and another had to make an emergency landing in Shwegu.

Since the 2021 military coup, KIA forces have also shot down a FTC-2000G fighter jet in the Namphatka battle in northern Shan State, and military attack helicopters in battles around Waingmaw and Momauk.

The Arakan Army (AA) captured one of the main defensive outposts of the Nat Yae Kan strategic hill, which is located along the Rakhine–Magway mountain road, according to local sources.
The attack took place during the first week of March, and the outpost was captured within a single day of fighting.
The military attempted to defend the base using five aircraft on March 4, and even after the base fell, three aircraft conducted airstrikes the following day, according to Lay Waddy FM citing military sources.
The Nat Yae Kan strategic base is an important logistics hub for operations crossing the Arakan Yoma mountains, which is why AA and allied forces are trying to fully capture the entire strategic hill.
Some soldiers fled toward the main strategic base, while others were captured alive, and weapons and ammunition were seized.
More than 500 soldiers from Division 11 have reportedly been deployed to defend the strategic hill. The military is also sending weapons, ammunition, and drones by air.

Reports also say that conscripts stationed there frequently defect to the Arakan Army and resistance forces.

The purpose is to gain strategic military experience from experienced ethnic armed organizations (EROs) and later strengthen resistance efforts in their home region in central Myanmar.
Strengthening the Anyar (central Myanmar) resistance movement is seen as a decisive factor in the current revolution.
To support the frontline and strengthen the resistance in the Anyar region, a fundraising campaign called “March Forward Together” aiming to raise 500 million kyats has been launched.

Supporters can contribute by purchasing raffle tickets or commemorative certificates, depending on the country they are in.

The convoy, consisting of 58 vehicles, was traveling from Division 33 headquarters in Sagaing toward the Northwestern Regional Military Command in Monywa, escorting supply trucks.
At around 7 PM, the fourth vehicle in the convoy was hit by four improvised mines.
During the attack, soldiers guarding the convoy fired heavily with 0.5 caliber machine guns, 40mm weapons, and small arms, but the resistance fighters withdrew safely without casualties.
