- KIO is Systematically Coordinating to Achieve Greater Military and Political Success with Spring Revolution Forces, Says General N’Ban La
m.CDM, February 5
The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) is systematically coordinating efforts to achieve greater military and political success together with Spring Revolution forces resisting the military, and has urged people not to fall victim to the military’s divisive tactics, said KIO Chairman General N’Ban La.
He made these remarks during his speech marking the 65th Kachin Revolution Day on February 5.
General N’Ban La stated that following the Myanmar military’s seizure of state power on February 1, 2021, numerous armed resistance groups emerged, along with the formation of the National Unity Government (NUG).
As armed revolutionary groups have now united alongside Spring Revolution forces and have begun achieving successes on the battlefield, the KIO Central Committee is placing special focus on systematically coordinating efforts to secure further military and political achievements, he added.
He explained that Kachin national leaders had signed the historic Panglong Agreement alongside other ethnic leaders to jointly attain independence with the Bamar people, and that Kachin people had cooperated with other ethnic groups within Kachin regions to achieve independence.
However, despite the designation of the “Union of Myanmar,” successive governments failed to fulfill the political rights promised under the Panglong Agreement. As a result, Kachin people began armed resistance on February 5, 1961.
General N’Ban La said the armed struggle was undertaken to reclaim the political rights lost by the Kachin people.
He further explained that during the current Spring Revolution, Kachin people are uniting in a historic struggle to reclaim their right to shape their own destiny, while the military is simultaneously attempting by various means to hold elections and reopen parliament, including efforts to change ethnic and regional names.
Noting that Shan and Kachin people have lived together peacefully since ancient times, he urged people not to accept the military regime’s divisive tactics, not to destroy their shared history, and to remain vigilant against propaganda.
He also emphasized that drugs are a major enemy of revolutionary forces and called for strong public support of the anti-drug committee Pat Jasan, urging collective action against narcotics, online scam networks, and attempts to establish scam centers in local areas. He further called on Kachin people abroad to continue supporting their people and the revolution in whatever ways they can.
General N’Ban La reaffirmed that the KIO Central Committee will continue striving tirelessly to reach the goals hoped for by both the Kachin people and the people of Myanmar, in his speech marking the 65th Kachin Revolution Day. - CRPH and the Three Brotherhood Alliance Send Messages Marking the 65th Kachin Revolution Day

CRPH paid tribute to Kachin leaders, martyrs, and civilians who have sacrificed their lives, blood, and sweat over the past 65 years in the struggle to build a federal democratic union and end military dictatorship.

NUG noted that due to the failure of successive governments to implement the promises of the Panglong Agreement, Kachin people began armed resistance on February 5, 1961, to reclaim national, religious, and political freedoms.
NUG paid tribute to the sacrifices made over 65 years in the struggle for equality, self-determination, and a federal democratic union, and pledged to pursue justice for fallen heroes, their families, and displaced civilians.

The funding, approved under the FY2026 Consolidated Appropriations Act signed on February 3, must be implemented within the remaining eight months of the fiscal year.
BRI stated that the aid complies with the Burma Act of 2022 and prioritizes democratic movements, persecuted communities, humanitarian assistance, governance, accountability, political prisoners, CDM defectors, and justice for Rohingya communities.
“This approval clearly demonstrates U.S. congressional support for Myanmar’s democratic future,” said BRI Chairman and CEO Zo Tum Hmung.
BRI Board Chair Dr. Robin Stoops emphasized the need for effective mechanisms to ensure the aid genuinely reaches democratic forces.
