- NUG Ministry of Health Designates Dr. Aung Thae Htut as a CDM Martyr Hero

The Ministry of Health of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced that Dr. Aung Thae Htut, who was killed during an airstrike carried out by the terrorist military on a public hospital in Matoungta Village, Salingyi Township, Yinmabin District, Sagaing Region, has been officially recognized as a Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) Martyr Hero.
Dr. Aung Thae Htut actively participated in the non-violent CDM and served as the officer-in-charge doctor at Matoungta Township Hospital, providing healthcare services to local residents.
On January 4, the 78th Independence Day of Myanmar, at approximately 2:30 PM, the terrorist military deliberately bombed the public hospital using a gyrocopter, despite no fighting taking place in the area. As a result, Dr. Aung Thae Htut (aged 37) and two hospital kitchen staff members were killed, bringing the total civilian death toll to three. The hospital buildings were also damaged.
The NUG Ministry of Health expressed deep condolences to the families of the innocent civilians who lost their lives and stated that Dr. Aung Thae Htut has been honored as a CDM Martyr Hero.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment—together with all ethnic communities—to continue the struggle until the complete eradication of military dictatorship and the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union, honoring the sacrifices of fallen and ongoing revolutionary heroes. - AA Launches Simultaneous Attacks on Kyaukphyu Naval Base and Police Battalion (32); Fierce Fighting Continues in Sittwe

According to Narinjara News, the Arakan Army (AA) has launched simultaneous attacks using drones and heavy weapons on the Danyawaddy Naval Base, the largest naval base in Rakhine State, and Police Battalion (32) in Kyaukphyu.
Heavy weapons fired by AA reportedly struck residential buildings numbered 16 through 20 and a meeting hall inside the naval headquarters, resulting in casualties.
On January 5, thick smoke was observed rising from the base. On January 6 at around 4:00 PM, injured personnel were transported by navy vessel to Kyaukphyu, and those critically wounded were later airlifted to Mingaladon Hospital in Yangon.
AA attacks also hit Police Battalion (32), damaging several barracks. Additionally, AA has been ambushing military supply and patrol units near Thitput Taung using new guerrilla tactics, reportedly causing significant casualties among junta forces.
Furthermore, AA began attacking two security outposts guarding the Sittwe Regional Military Command headquarters earlier this month. These outposts near Tawkan, Kyantaw, Gantgaung Island, and Shwe Sai were attacked using drones, heavy weapons, and guerrilla tactics, resulting in heavy losses for junta troops.
Following the attacks, junta forces based in Sittwe reportedly fired artillery and deployed drones toward Rathedaung and Ponnagyun areas.
On January 4, AA also attacked three junta patrol vehicles in Sittwe Township using drones, killing three police officers and injuring others. - 16-Year-Old Girl Killed in Airstrike in Myaing Township

The Myaing People’s Defense Force (PDF) reported that a 16-year-old girl was killed and six others were seriously injured due to an airstrike by the terrorist military in Myaing Township, Magway Region.
On the night of January 6 at approximately 9:40 PM, a jet fighter carried out an unprovoked airstrike on Kyetmauk Village, killing the teenage girl, injuring six people, and destroying two civilian homes.
Earlier that morning, three gyrocopters from the Northwestern Regional Military Command in Monywa bombed Waytaung North Forest Clinic, located on the border between Pakokku and Myaing townships.
Due to increasing air attacks targeting civilians, Myaing PDF and local resistance groups have warned residents to remain extremely cautious. - Over 150 Bombs Dropped on Saw, Htilin, and Gangaw Townships

According to Yaw Alin Tan, junta forces dropped more than 150 bombs on Saw, Htilin, and Gangaw townships in Magway Region.
In Saw Township’s Kyaukhtu area, at around 12:40 PM, a Y-12 aircraft dropped at least 70 bombs, followed by a jet fighter airstrike.
Similarly, in southwestern Htilin Township, more than 80 bombs were dropped between 10:00 and 10:50 AM.
As a result, an elderly man, an elderly woman, and a child from Aung Ywar and Htilin villages were injured. The elderly man later died while receiving medical treatment.
In Gangaw Township, at 6:36 PM, a jet fighter from Tada-U Air Base fired two rockets into Myinza Village, striking a monastery. One monk and one novice monk were injured (not life-threatening), and monastery buildings were damaged by fire.
Gangaw Township has faced at least eight airstrikes since January 3, prompting warnings for civilians to be on high alert.
During the airstrikes, two Mi-17 transport helicopters landed at Kyaukhtu Infantry Battalion (368), possibly for troop rotation and resupply. Similar troop rotations also occurred earlier in Htilin town. - Civilians Warned to Evacuate Near Police Station in Sinphyugyun Township

Local armed resistance groups issued an urgent warning for civilians living near the police station in Sinphyugyun Township, Magway Region, to immediately evacuate to safer locations due to escalating military tensions.
The warning advised residents near hospitals, monasteries, and schools—particularly around Sinphyugyun High School—not to move east or north, but instead relocate southward to stay with relatives or acquaintances.
Although fighting had subsided since January 3, junta forces remain stationed at four locations, including pagodas and the police station.
On the morning of January 7, landmines detonated in several wards of Sinphyugyun town, injuring approximately 15 civilians (11 men and 4 women). The mines are believed to be tripwire mines planted by junta forces. The injured were transported to Salin Township Public Hospital for treatment. - Coordinated Attacks on Junta Bases in Bago Region Cause Traffic Disruptions

Revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on junta bases in Minhla, Letpadan, Gyobingauk, and Nattalin townships in western Bago Region, resulting in intense fighting and traffic congestion along the Yangon–Pyay Highway, according to local sources.
Early in the morning, resistance forces attacked military camps near Tarlay Village and Sitkwin Tarsone Village in Minhla Township. Junta casualties were reported, and the Sitkwin Tarsone camp was burned down.
Due to the fighting, traffic between Kaingbyanggyi Village and Letpadan Town was temporarily blocked and later reopened around noon.
Junta forces reportedly deployed fighter jets from Hmawbi and Taungoo air bases to provide air support. Residents in affected areas have been unable to leave their homes due to artillery fire, while some civilians fled toward Thayarwaddy and Okpho. - Kayah (Kayan) National Army Opens Central Headquarters

The Kayan National Army (KNA) announced the opening of its Central Headquarters at an undisclosed location in the Kayan region on January 7.
Along with the headquarters opening, Battalions 2114 and 2115 were newly established.
The KNA was initially formed on October 29, 2024, with eight battalions and has now expanded to 13 battalions.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the KNA political leadership committee, chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, commanders, newly recruited soldiers, and logistics representatives.
During the ceremony, KNA logistics representatives Bo Aik San and Khun Edward donated a 4×4 vehicle and 22 million kyats worth of military supplies.
