m.CDM – January 6
In Pandaung Township, Bago Region, an Arakan Army (AA) commando unit attacked a junta military column, killing around 10 soldiers, including one officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, according to military sources.
The attack occurred on January 4 at around 9:00 a.m., west of Ma Thun Village, between Hill 666 and KaPaSa Factory No. 16, where the junta column was camped.
During the clash, at least seven bodies, including that of a temporary Tactical Command commander (SaKhaKha-10) based in Kalay, were recovered, along with some weapons and ammunition.
The fighting lasted about 30 minutes, after which AA forces successfully withdrew with minimal casualties.
The junta column had been sent as reinforcement to Hill 666, which AA forces have been surrounding and blockading for some time. Junta troops stationed there are reportedly suffering severe shortages of food and ammunition, leading to daily desertions.
Between January 1 and January 6, more than 10 junta soldiers defected in Pandaung Township.
Meanwhile, there are growing rumors that junta leader Min Aung Hlaing or Deputy Commander-in-Chief Soe Win may personally visit the Pandaung military area for ground-level mobilization, prompting heightened security alerts.
This rumor had already been circulating before the AA and resistance attack. According to CDM Captain Zin Yaw, the visit could be to inspect defense factories or possibly to perform astrological rituals at historical sites in Pandaung.

- More than 170 civilians killed and over 300 injured by junta airstrikes in December
m.CDM – January 6
According to the Myanmar Defense and Security Institute (MDSI), junta airstrikes nationwide in December 2025 killed over 170 civilians and injured more than 300.
A total of 119 airstrikes were recorded, killing 176 civilians and injuring approximately 325, including children and the elderly.
Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Mandalay Regions and Rakhine State suffered the most attacks, with Sagaing and Rakhine recording the highest casualties.
Airstrike frequency:
• Sagaing: ~50
• Magway: ~22
• Rakhine: 11
• Bago: 11
• Mandalay: 10
• Ayeyarwady: 4
• Kachin & Shan: 2 each
• Karen & Kayah: 1 each
Compared to November’s 66 airstrikes, December saw nearly double the attacks and casualties.
Nighttime strikes increased to 27%, which MDSI assesses as intentional psychological terror targeting civilians at rest.
Schools, monasteries, IDP camps, hospitals, gold mines, and oil fields were also targeted, indicating escalating pressure on civilian infrastructure.
MDSI further warns that increased air reliance reflects declining junta control in ground operations.

- San Francisco Bay Area Spring Revolution food fundraiser raises over USD 11,000
January 6, 2025
In California, USA, Myanmar ethnic families in the San Francisco Bay Area raised USD 11,097 during the 49th Spring Revolution fundraising food sale held on January 4.
Despite stormy January weather, donors, volunteer cooks, cash contributors, and supporters were thanked by the Spring Labakhye Circle Family.
A coordinator told m.CDM:
“There is no revolution in history that ends quickly. What we need is conviction, resilience, perseverance, and real action—not just words. There will always be bad actors, like rat droppings mixed into rice. The public must be vigilant and ensure support reaches the right places. This is a self-reliant struggle, and collective help must be effective and thoughtful.”
