1) Near Natyekan base, AA and allied forces capture another Ka-Kin outpost; some POWs detained

m.CDM – January 18
According to frontline sources, on the evening of January 17, the Arakan Army (AA) and allied resistance forces launched an offensive and captured a SAC Ka-Kin outpost near Pazi Village, close to the Natyekan strategic base on the Ann–Padaung road in the border area between Rakhine State and Magway Region.
Despite SAC airstrikes, fierce fighting reportedly took place. The outpost was seized and some prisoners of war were captured.
To reinforce the Natyekan base, the SAC had reportedly stationed Ka-Kin outposts along the Pazi Village corridor. However, because AA and allied forces have cut the route, the SAC is said to be relying only on air transport to deliver ammunition and supplies into the base.
Fighting has also been intense since December near Gote Gyi camp, close to Natyekan, and military tensions remain high.
Clashes between the AA and the SAC are continuing intensely in Sittwe and Kyaukphyu in Rakhine State, as well as in three Rakhine-border areas in Magway, Bago, and Ayeyarwady Regions. Casualties are reportedly significant on the SAC side in the battles around Sittwe, while the AA has also suffered injuries.

In the Natyekan-area battles, AA and allied forces are said to be using sniper rifles, and SAC troops reportedly move very little during the daytime, collecting supply drops only at night.

2) 12 days of fighting in Kyunsu Township; about 10 regime troops killed, 2 resistance fighters killed

m.CDM – January 18
The Kyunsu Township PaKaFa (People’s Defense Force) announced that in Kyunsu Township, Myeik District, Tanintharyi Region, there were 12 days of fighting with a combined force of Pyusawhti and the SAC (Navy) advancing along the Man Gyi River.
At around 6:00 a.m. on December 31, clashes reportedly occurred three times with a SAC force advancing toward Kyauktan Nge Village using 3 military boats, 2 landing craft, 1 small wooden boat, and 1 small fiber boat. The SAC/Pyusawhti side suffered casualties, and they withdrew around 4:00 p.m., according to the statement.
On January 1, the combined SAC/Pyusawhti force reportedly returned with reinforced manpower, and at least three more clashes occurred.
After that, the combined force reportedly raided Kyauktan Nge Village and burned and destroyed civilian homes.
On January 2, the SAC forces reportedly withdrew from Kyauktan Nge without direct clashes, and the township PaKaFa carried out area-clearing operations.
On the 3rd, the SAC reportedly brought in additional vessels from Kanmaw, Chaung Gyi Wa, and Oat Hpo Maw, expanding to 5 military boats, 4 large landing craft, and 1 small wooden boat, leading to continuous clashes.
The statement says that during these fights, Myeik District PDF Battalion No. (2), Myeik PaKaFa, and Tanintharyi PaKaFa fought alongside Kyunsu PaKaFa.
From January 4 onward, the SAC and Pyusawhti reportedly held positions inside Kyauktan Nge Village and repeatedly attacked defense forces using drones and 60mm mortars. Resistance joint forces reportedly counterattacked continuously, and the statement claims around 10 SAC/Pyusawhti members may have been killed.
On January 11, a drone bomb launched by the SAC reportedly exploded while attacking a Kyunsu PaKaFa camp, and two fighters died; there was also damage inside the camp.
That same day, the combined SAC/Pyusawhti column reportedly cleared the area around a Kyunsu PaKaFa Ka-Kin position and then entered Kyauktan Nge, Auk Kyat Tan, Man Gyi, and Wun Thike villages, looting civilian property and burning the villages.

After that day, the SAC side reportedly withdrew again, while resistance forces continued area-clearing operations. The clashes are said to have lasted about 12 days in total.

3) Attack on a Pyusawhti camp in Taungtha; mine attack on a reinforcement convoy

m.CDM – January 18
Battalion No. (3) of Myingyan District announced that it attacked a Thitayar Mon Pyusawhti camp in Tamaiktha Village, Taungtha Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region—near the Myingyan–Bagan–Nyaung-U highway.
The assault reportedly took place around 6:30 a.m. on January 17. The attackers said they were able to advance up to the camp bunkers, and SAC troops and Pyusawhti members fled.
In addition, a “Fyat Taung Yay” unit reportedly carried out a mine attack on three vehicles from the Thitayar Mon Pyusawhti group that were coming from Myingyan as reinforcements to Tamaiktha; two vehicles were hit.
The statement says three Pyusawhti members were killed, and others were injured, including someone described as A5, a disciple/follower of Thitayar Mon.

The reinforcement group is reportedly still not back in Myingyan and is said to be burning and destroying Kantaw Village.

4) In northern Ye Township, attack on a SAC column; 3 killed, 6 wounded

m.CDM – January 18
The Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) announced that troops under the command of the Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) Defense Department attacked a SAC column of about 200 troops advancing toward Aungthabye Village in northern Ye Township, Mon State. The MSRF said 3 soldiers were killed and 6 were wounded.
The fighting occurred on the morning of January 15, and MSRF released the update on the evening of January 17.
MSRF and the Ye People’s Defense Force (YPDF) reportedly carried out a guerrilla-style ambush. They said they were able to confirm firsthand the 3 deaths and 6 injuries.

MSRF also said one of its members suffered a non-life-threatening injury, and it is still investigating for more detailed information about SAC losses.

5) Unity Column in Pale Township held a military parade ceremony

m.CDM – January 18
The PDF under the Sagaing Region command (Yinmabin District Military Department) announced that the Pale Township column (Unity Column) held a military parade ceremony on Thursday, January 15.
The Unity Column was initially formed with four Yinmabin District battalions operating in Pale Township: Battalions (6, 10, 12, 38).
In line with guidance from the NUG Ministry of Defense, it said the column was organized as a strong, cohesive force—emphasizing unity, compact formation, discipline, and combat readiness—described metaphorically as a “bundle of firewood” with great collective strength.

The Unity Column pledged to fight to the end, together with allied revolutionary partners, to eradicate military dictatorship and achieve a new federal democratic state, and urged the public to continue supporting them.

6) About 80 detainees/prisoners broke out of a prison in Mese Township; 9 guns taken

m.CDM – January 18
The Department of Justice under the Interim Executive Council (IEC) of Karenni State announced on January 18 that around 80 detainees held at a prison in Mese Township broke out around 1:00 a.m. and took 9 small arms with them.
The department said it is true that the escape occurred and that 9 firearms were taken, but claims spreading on social media—that prison staff were killed or abducted—are not accurate.

It also said it is coordinating with relevant revolutionary forces to regain control of the situation and urged the public not to panic. For public safety, relevant revolutionary forces, the Karenni State police unit, and township administrative bodies will provide timely updates and have already put security measures in place.

7) More activities needed to protect children in Anyar schools from airstrike threats

m.CDM – January 18
Because SAC airstrikes are creating serious risks, schools in central Myanmar (the Anyar region) still need ongoing civilian air-raid awareness education so children can study more safely. The program is being implemented jointly by Peace Classroom and MDSI, according to reports.
Schools in Anyar have faced repeated aerial bombings, increasing life-threatening risks for students. Partner groups say it is necessary to expand education on airstrike risks and strengthen practical protective measures.
They estimate that each awareness activity costs an average of 300,000 to 500,000 kyat, including travel expenses and printing materials.
They also say additional funds are needed for practical protection measures such as building bomb shelters and purchasing walkie-talkies.

Because funding is limited, they face difficulties scaling the work to the level needed. They appealed to Myanmar people abroad and parents/community members to contribute as they can, and said donors can contact and donate directly via the “Peace Classroom” Facebook page.

The destroyed fields totaled about 30 acres. The group said it investigated the owner but could not obtain precise information.

PRA–Magway said it is closely monitoring and enforcing against drug cultivation, trafficking/sale, and possession in the areas where it operates, and it will continue to prevent and destroy drug-related activities.
