There had been widespread reports that NUCC and ethnic organizations met junta representatives in Indonesia. NUCC issued this clarification in response, saying it wanted to make its stance and position absolutely clear to the public.

According to NUCC, it received an invitation on November 4 from the Office of Special Envoy on the Myanmar Issue in Indonesia to attend a workshop.

Before accepting, NUCC carefully inquired about:

  • Which groups and representatives would be taking part

NUCC says it only agreed to send a delegation after it received confirmation that no representatives from the military junta would participate.

The workshop, titled “Sharing Indonesia’s Experiences in Nation-Building”, was held from November 25 to 30. NUCC says:

  • Two NUCC representatives attended
  • They participated alongside other revolutionary groups’ delegates
  • At no time and in no setting did they meet with junta representatives

During the workshop, they studied Indonesia’s experience in nation-building, shared their own perspectives and findings, and held discussions with other participants.
