Today’s news items are:
1. In Hakha, artillery and airstrikes by junta forces damaged homes and killed some domestic animals; during the fighting, 4 resistance fighters were killed.
2. In Lemyethna and Bilin townships, junta artillery fire killed 5 civilians; in Thandwe Township, an airstrike killed 1 woman.
3. Dr. Ye Htunzaw has been confirmed and appointed as Prime Minister of the Magway Federal Unit.
4. TikTok has begun removing the junta-propaganda page “MWD News (Myawaddy News).”

## 1) In Hakha, junta artillery and airstrikes damage homes and kill domestic animals; 4 resistance fighters killed in battle

Local sources report that in **Hakha, Chin State**, fighting between junta forces and the **Chin Defense Force – Hakha (CDF-Hakha)** took place on **Dec 26 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.** During the clashes, junta forces fired **heavy artillery into urban neighborhoods**, damaging residential buildings, and some **domestic animals reportedly died**.
In addition to artillery, the junta reportedly used **two jet fighters** to carry out airstrikes. Because people relocated to safer places due to the bombing, there were reportedly **no civilian casualties**.
The air-dropped bombs reportedly landed and exploded at five locations within the town’s wards: **one inside the Chin Christian University campus; one on the road below Galilee Baptist Church; one in Upper Ward; and two near the road leading toward Matupi from Kyaw Bote**—a total of **five** bombs in town neighborhoods.
Local reports also say that **one bomb struck**, resulting in the deaths of **four CDF-Hakha fighters**.

## 2) Artillery fire kills 5 civilians in Lemyethna and Bilin; airstrike kills 1 woman in Thandwe

In **Lemyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region**, local sources report that on **Dec 25 (Christmas Day)** from **4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.**, junta forces from **Artillery Battalion 344** fired **howitzer shells** into the **Kanyin Taing village-tract** area **without any fighting occurring**.
A shell reportedly killed **one 66-year-old man** and **one 34-year-old woman**, and injured a **6-year-old child** and **four adult men**.
Separately, in **Thandwe Township, Rakhine State**, an airstrike reportedly hit **Yatshay Village** in **Area (5)** at **12:48 a.m. on Dec 25**, killing a displaced woman identified as **Daw Naw Say Ray Phaw**, age **55**, who had fled from Myanmar’s mainland side.
The attack reportedly involved **two 500-pound bombs**. One bomb exploded near a rubber plantation to the east of the village; the woman reportedly died instantly after being struck by shrapnel.
Also, in **Bilin Township, Mon State**, local reports say that on **Dec 24 around 12:00 p.m.**, a military column operating in Bilin fired artillery at a monastery near **Thapyayni Village**. A shell reportedly exploded inside the **Khatta Monastery compound**, killing **three villagers** and injuring **one**. The three killed were reported as **Ma Khine Thwe Win (30)**, **Ma Htway Win (23)**, and **Daw Chaw (49)**. A monastery building was also reportedly damaged.

## 3) In the Bhamo battle, junta commanders reportedly killed by suicide-drone strikes; airstrike hits the central market; Myitkyina airbase attacked again with a suicide drone

Early on Christmas morning, the KIA-led joint forces reportedly **stepped up operations** to seize **Bhamo**. During fighting on **Dec 25–26**, suicide-drone attacks by the joint forces reportedly killed junta officers.
Reports say the **battalion commander and deputy battalion commander** of **SNAKH (641) Battalion**, and the **tactical commander** of **Light Infantry Battalion (47)** were killed after being hit by suicide drones.
Over the two days, many junta soldiers were reportedly killed and many weapons seized.
As junta forces and allied **SNA** units attempted to regain control of Bhamo, they reportedly carried out airstrikes around **5:30 a.m.**, with bombs landing inside the **central market**, causing market stalls to burn, according to a statement from **Katha District Battalion No. (4)**.
In addition, KIA joint forces reportedly shelled the junta airbase in **Myitkyina** with heavy weapons on Christmas morning, and again attacked it with a **suicide drone** on **Dec 26**.

## 4) Dr. Ye Htunzaw confirmed as Prime Minister of the Magway Federal Unit

The **Magway Federal Unit Parliament** held its **10th regular session** and confirmed the appointment of **Dr. Ye Htunzaw** as the **Interim Prime Minister of the Magway Federal Unit**, according to an announcement.
The meeting was held via **Zoom** at **10:00 a.m. on Dec 26**, attended by interim president **Duwa Lashi La**, Union Prime Minister **Mahn Win Khaing Than**, CRPH Chair **U Aung Kyi Nyunt**, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Magway Federal Unit Parliament, and other MPs.
Invited guests reportedly included Union-level MPs from the Magway Unit, representatives from committees representing regions/states/areas/federal units, NLD central and unit-level leaders, legal and political adviser **Sayagyi U Zeya Oo**, members of the Interim Selection Commission, members of seven groups involved in drafting interim arrangements, office staff, embassy focal persons, and **IDEA International**.
After speeches by various leaders, the Interim Selection Commission submitted the name of the prime-minister nominee **Dr. Ye Htunzaw** (Magway Region MP, **Minhla Township Constituency No. 2**). With no objections raised, he was confirmed and appointed.

## 5) Child safety awareness on aerial-attack risks

The **Anyar Myay Troop Alliance** said it carried out awareness-raising on **aerial-attack safety** for children, stressing that children have the right to live safely, study, receive medical care, and grow up freely under any circumstances.
It said children have been severely deprived of these rights due to the junta’s brutality, and that records show the number of children killed by airstrikes while studying has been increasing monthly.
Members of the alliance reportedly visited places where children study and provided systematic instruction on how to protect themselves from air threats.

## 6) TikTok begins removing junta propaganda page “MWD News (Myawaddy News)”

**Justice For Myanmar** announced that TikTok—described as a China-controlled social media platform—has, for the first time, taken action by removing **MWD News (Myawaddy News)**, which it described as part of the junta’s propaganda apparatus.
Justice For Myanmar said it had written to TikTok raising questions about sanctions compliance and human-rights concerns related to continuing services for junta accounts, after which TikTok took action.
“This is a clear action against the Myanmar military’s propaganda machinery,” Justice For Myanmar said.
It also called on TikTok and all other tech companies to remove remaining junta propaganda accounts and to prohibit the junta’s use of their platforms. MWD News is said to be overseen by the Myanmar military’s **Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare**.

## 7) Homalin Township emergency administration issues a curfew order
**m.CDM, Dec 26**
In **Homalin Township, Hkamti District, Sagaing Region**, the Township Emergency People’s Administration (Central) issued a **curfew order** dated **Dec 26, 2025**.
The order said it was issued to intensify efforts to expose and combat **drug trading and use**, and related crimes such as theft and robbery, within NUG-controlled areas of Homalin Township.
Residents were instructed not to go outside their homes between **10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.** The order takes effect starting **Dec 27** and remains in force until amended.
For urgent medical travel during restricted hours, residents were told to notify the nearest battalion/unit or local administrative bodies (PaKaPha/PaLaPha). Noncompliance would be met with effective enforcement action. The public was also urged to report drug trafficking, with a reward promised if the report leads to a proven case.
