## 1) Budalin: SAC air attack kills one woman, injures her husband
**m.CDM, December 25**
In Sagaing Region’s Budalin Township, residents said the SAC carried out an air attack on the bus-stop area at **Kinsan Road Junction** using **three gyrocopters**, killing **one woman**.
The attack occurred on **December 24 at about 2:50 p.m.** Reportedly, **three gyrocopters** (said to be from Monywa/Northwestern Command) dropped **two bombs** and also fired with machine guns.
The blast hit a couple who were selling betel near the bus stop. The wife died on the spot, and the husband suffered serious injuries. A roadside pavilion, a small terminal hut, and some market vendors’ homes were also damaged.
Locals said there is a local defense checkpoint near the junction. Although no fighting had occurred, they believed the air attack may have been aimed at that checkpoint.
Earlier, on **December 4**, residents in Budalin Township’s eastern area said the SAC carried out a gyrocopter air attack on **Kansa Village**, injuring **two** locals.

Local military sources said the SAC is resisting the push with air strikes. The Bhamo battle, which reportedly began in early **December 2024**, has now been ongoing for about a year, and the KIA side is said to be pressing to capture remaining positions.
At the same time, as part of a “coordinated operation,” KIA-allied forces reportedly carried out repeated artillery fire on **Namhpong airbase in Myitkyina**. Reports claim that a **Mi-17 helicopter** and a **K-8W fighter aircraft** were damaged/destroyed.

## 3) Wetlet: Warning not to travel on the District No. (3) connecting road due to fighting
**m.CDM, December 25**
In Sagaing Region’s Wetlet Township, local resistance information channels warned people **not to travel** on the **District No. (3) inter-district connecting road** because fighting is occurring along the route.
They also reported that on the night of **December 24**, the SAC conducted air attacks with **two jet fighters** near **Thant Kone forest**, south of **Htoun Bo Village** in Wetlet’s northeast. The extent of damage was not yet known.
Wetlet Informational Network said the attacked locations were not active battle sites, and that airstrikes were carried out three times on areas where civilians were sheltering.
They added that the SAC also launched air attacks in the same area (south of Htoun Bo Village) on **December 13** and **December 19**.
On **December 23**, an SAC air attack on **Ngapatchaung Village** near the connecting road reportedly killed **seven civilians**, including children, and destroyed **four houses** and **three vehicles**.

**m.CDM, December 25**
The **National League for Democracy (NLD)** announced on **December 25** that it has expelled party members who are **competing in** or **helping with** the SAC’s planned “sham” election.
The statement said the party had already decided—through interim Central Committee meetings—not to recognize or cooperate with an election intended to grant the SAC political legitimacy. Those participating were therefore deemed to be acting against the public will and violating party decisions and discipline, and were expelled.
Those expelled include (among others):
1. U Nyi Nyi Htun (Information member, Myawaddy District Executive Committee, Karen State)
2. U Aung Ko Oo (Member, Village/ward Executive Committee, Hlaing Wa Village, Karen State)
3. U Than Htaik Aung (Member, Township Executive Committee, Daik-U Township, Bago Region)
4. U Aye Lwin (Information member, Daik-U Township Executive Committee, Bago Region)

6. Daw Kyo Nwe Oo (Member, Township Executive Committee, Dagon Myothit (South), Yangon Region)
7. Dr. Phyu Phyu Khine (Chair, Township Executive Committee, Dagon Seikkan Township, Yangon Region)
The statement said a total of **20** members were expelled.
It also noted that in the **2020 general election**, the NLD won **82.36%** and had **920** MPs elected, but the military led by **Min Aung Hlaing** seized power and detained national leaders including party chair **Daw Aung San Suu Kyi**.

## 6) UN warns Myanmar’s humanitarian emergency has reached an extreme level
**m.CDM, December 25**
The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator (interim) for Myanmar, **Ms. Marcoluigi Corsi** (as written in the Burmese text: “Ms. Gwen Lewis”), warned that Myanmar’s humanitarian emergency has reached a **critical extreme**.
More than **16 million** people reportedly need life-saving assistance, and **one in three** is facing serious livelihood hardship—showing how severe the crisis has become.
She said that even though global attention has shifted elsewhere, conditions in Myanmar are still worsening; the emergency is “nearly invisible,” and people inside the country feel “the world has forgotten.”
UN News reported that while the UN and humanitarian organizations warn Myanmar’s needs will rise further in **2026**, funding is far too low—forcing painful decisions about who can be helped.
Since the 2021 coup, the country has faced expanding conflict, repeated natural disasters, and economic collapse. About **3.6 million** people have been displaced so far, and this could rise to nearly **4 million** next year.
According to the **2026 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan**, more than **16 million** people—including **5 million children**—may need emergency assistance next year.
The **World Food Programme (WFP)** also warned that in 2026, more than **12 million** people could face severe food insecurity, with around **1 million** potentially reaching emergency levels. Already, more than **400,000 children and mothers** are surviving on nutritionally inadequate diets and suffering severe malnutrition.
WFP Myanmar Director **Michael Dunford** was quoted as saying that conflict and poverty are steadily stripping away the basics people need to survive, yet the world is not paying attention.
Ms. Gwen Lewis urged donor countries and governments to refocus attention and support on Myanmar.
