The clash reportedly began around **7:30 am** when a resistance unit attacked a junta force stationed at the **Thankone (Mogok) Vipassana Meditation Center**, located about **two furlongs** east of the road between **Nyin Htway Village** and **Zee Kya Village**.

During the fighting, a woman living near the center and her **9-year-old son** were killed. About **nine locals**, including **four children**, were seriously injured, and emergency medical assistance was urgently needed.

## 4) Severe human rights abuses against political prisoners in Daik-U Prison

*(m.CDM, December 23)*

**Political Prisoner’s Network–Myanmar (PPNM)** reported that prison authorities in **Daik-U Prison**, Bago Region, are committing serious human rights violations and abuses against political prisoners.

PPNM alleged these abuses are being led and ordered by the current deputy prison warden **Hein Zin Aung (aka “Khyay Pyat”)**, who it said is a former member of the military.

Reported abuses include entering cells under the pretext of “searches” and confiscating **medicines** needed for health, as well as seizing and banning **books and documents** used for study—effectively allowing prisoners to keep no reading materials and denying access to them.

PPNM also said that authorities have confiscated items families sent in, books submitted, and even goods prisoners had purchased at inflated prices from the prison canteen.

In addition, some food delivered during prison visits has reportedly been taken by staff conducting searches at the prison gate, meaning families’ food parcels do not fully reach prisoners.

PPNM further reported that when political prisoners request medical treatment and care, authorities sometimes record names and then subject them to punishment—including forcing them to crawl on all fours, beating and torturing them, and sending them to solitary confinement—describing the abuse as severe.

PPNM warned that these incidents constitute grave violations of political prisoners’ basic rights and create serious risks to their health and lives.

## 5) Kick removes seven junta channels; YouTube also removes MITV

*(m.CDM, December 23)*

**Justice For Myanmar** reported that the Australia-based live-streaming platform **Kick** removed **seven junta channels**, and **YouTube** also removed the **MITV** channel.

According to Justice For Myanmar, after junta-linked propaganda accounts began livestreaming on Kick, the platform removed and shut them down **within hours**. Justice For Myanmar said it released a special report on the morning of **December 23** under the headline that Kick “kicked out” the junta in under 24 hours.

Justice For Myanmar said the removals followed its letter to the company raising questions about sanctions compliance and human rights concerns.

It also said the junta moved to Kick after its accounts were removed from **Twitch**, the livestreaming platform owned by **Amazon**.

The removed Kick channels were: **MRTV HD, MITV, MRTV News, MRTV Farmers, MRTV Sports, MRTV NRC, and MRTV Entertainment**.

The report noted that **MITV and MRTV** are broadcast under the junta’s Ministry of Information—**MRTV** mainly in Burmese for domestic audiences, while **MITV** broadcasts in English aimed at foreign audiences.

Justice For Myanmar said Kick’s action cut off the junta’s ability to livestream propaganda, disinformation, and hate speech, and that YouTube’s action significantly reduced the junta’s reach to international audiences. It urged all tech companies, including **Alphabet** (YouTube’s parent company), to remove junta propaganda accounts and prevent use of their platforms.

## 6) Bangkok: 10 Chinese-made drones and 4 Myanmar nationals arrested, allegedly intended for sale to the Myanmar military

*(m.CDM, December 23)*

Thai media reported that Thai police arrested **four Myanmar nationals** at a hotel near **Suvarnabhumi Airport** in Bangkok, seizing **10 Chinese-made DJI drones** allegedly intended for sale to the Myanmar military.

On **December 23**, police raided the **Grand BS Airport Hotel** about **3 km** from the airport and seized the **10 DJI drones** from a room.

Those arrested were reported as **Zay Htet Aung (32)**, **San Nay Lin Htet (24)**, **Kyaw Zin Hein (21)**, and **Thein Zaw (34)**. Police said the four had traveled to Thailand on instructions from an unnamed person to receive the drones, which were allegedly to be sent to a person in Myanmar named **“Kevin Zo”** for sale to the Myanmar military.

Thai police said the raid followed reports of multiple drones flying near Suvarnabhumi Airport on **Sunday, December 21**, after which Thailand’s **National Security Council (NSC)** implemented emergency measures to prevent drone incursions in critical areas.

Thai police reportedly revoked the four suspects’ visas and placed them in immigration custody while continuing to investigate others in the network.

Thai military sources also stated that, after receiving reports this month of suspicious drone flights in Bangkok, searches led to the seizure of **more than 2,500 drones**. They warned that the drones were believed to be similar to types used by Ukrainian forces to strike Russian military positions and were allegedly smuggled into Thai territory.

These news reports were submitted by **Ko Thit, Lu Lay, and Khar Shel**.
