11–12–2025 (m.CDM Domestic News)**1. Nationwide Silent Strike on International Human Rights Day concludes successfully; NUG issues message of praise

m.CDM – December 10

The countrywide Silent Strike held simultaneously across Myanmar on December 10, International Human Rights Day, has successfully concluded with broad public participation, according to a congratulatory statement released by the National Unity Government (NUG) on December 10.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., shops were closed and streets were almost completely deserted, with hardly any pedestrians or traffic, showing that the people reject the junta’s processes and activities.

The Silent Strike had three main demands:

1. The immediate and unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint, and all political prisoners;

2. A total boycott of the junta’s planned “illegal sham election”;

3. The complete abolition of the unlawful conscription law.

The NUG statement said:

> “With this strike, we have effectively shown the world that the people’s will is completely absent from the junta’s election plan, and we have already struck a major blow against the credibility and legitimacy of that election.”

The NUG also formally thanked and honored all resistance forces inside and outside the country, including the General Strike Coordination Body (GSCB), which took the lead in organizing and coordinating the action.

Since the 2021 coup, this has been the eighth Silent Strike held in Myanmar.

### 2. Many killed in ambush on junta column that entered a “killing field” zone in Taungtha

m.CDM – December 10

In Taungtha Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region, many junta soldiers were reportedly killed when a junta column that had entered a designated “killing field” zone was attacked, according to MDA 3 Info.

On December 7, a junta column advancing toward Htone Kyi (B) Thaya Gyi village was ambushed by resistance fighters who had been lying in wait and attacked with 60mm mortars, hand-thrown bombs, and small arms.

During the attack, many junta soldiers (reportedly “visibly” so) were blown apart and fell with their bodies mangled, according to the report, which notes that the exact casualty figures are still being investigated.

Because a second junta column following behind came in with overwhelming firepower and heavier weapons, the resistance forces had to withdraw.

That same column then entered Htone Kyi (B) Thaya Gyi and Inn Te villages and carried out arson attacks, burning civilians’ homes, according to local reports.

### 3. Taungoo (Ketu Mati) air base attacked with 107 mm short-range rockets

m.CDM – December 10

The Ketu Mati air base in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, was attacked with 107 mm short-range rockets, according to Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM).

BWM says that at 9:55 p.m. on December 9, under the name “BMW Mission 47,” they fired six 107 mm rockets into the Taungoo air base.

They targeted the base’s fuel depots, and note that with the help of local allies, they managed to carry out the launch despite the junta’s multiple layers of blockade and security.

The operation was jointly conducted by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), the Than Taung North Special Region Fighter “Sar Khe” unit, and KNLA Brigade 2, Battalion 5.

According to local residents, after the rockets landed and exploded inside the air base, secondary explosions continued for more than half an hour.

The statement says that further details on damage and casualties inside the junta air base will be investigated and released later.

### 4. KNU central headquarters and Brigade 7 HQ area attacked by 8 kamikaze drones

m.CDM – December 10

The area of the Karen National Union (KNU) central headquarters and the Brigade 7 headquarters was attacked repeatedly by eight kamikaze drones between about 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on December 10 by junta forces, according to KNU news sources.

Two motorbikes were destroyed and some buildings were slightly damaged, but there were no fatalities, with only one person sustaining minor injuries.

Radio Kawlah Kawthoolei (R2K) reported that one drone struck shortly after 2 a.m., two more after 3 a.m., three after 4 a.m., and another two after 5 a.m.—a total of eight drones.

Throughout 2025, the junta has repeatedly used suicide drones to attack the KNU headquarters and Brigade 7 area. This was the fourth such attack; earlier, on August 10, more than 20 bombs were dropped in the area by a Y-12 aircraft.

### 5. Two junta soldiers killed in clash with RMA in Thanbyuzayat; RC planes bomb arson units in Chaung-U

m.CDM – December 10

In Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, the Ramanya Mon Army (RMA) says it clashed with a junta column on a hill east of Kalainpado village, killing two junta soldiers.

At around 4:15 p.m. on December 5, a column of about 100 junta troops based in Thanbyuzayat, made up of combined units, clashed with local RMA units.

During the battle, two junta soldiers were killed and many were wounded, while the RMA side lost some military vehicles, according to the group.

Separately, Burmese Peacock Defense Force (BPDF) says it used RC planes to drop bombs on a junta unit that was burning down Kyi Kone village tract in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region.

The operation was conducted on December 8 and 9 by Bama Dawng Drone Unit, Myinmu Township People’s Defense Force (Pa-Ka-Fa), Monywa District Battalion 4, Anyar Fighter Local PDF, and allied groups.

In Rakhine State, 1,152 innocent civilians have been killed and 2,153 injured over a two-year period—from November 13, 2023, to November 13, 2025—due to the actions of the military junta and Islamist extremist groups (ARSA, RSO, ARA, RIM), according to a December 10 statement from the Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO).

Of the 1,152 killed during that period:

### 7. Canada urges military leaders to reduce violence and protect civilians

m.CDM – December 10

The Canadian government has urged military leaders to reduce violence and protect civilians.

On December 10, International Human Rights Day, the Canadian Embassy in Myanmar issued a statement calling on the military and commanders to act.

The statement notes that in Myanmar, fundamental rights that should be respected are still being gravely violated, and that nearly five years after the coup, the situation remains at its worst.

Canada reiterates that it firmly condemned the 2021 military coup that removed the elected government, and continues to strongly criticize ongoing atrocities, including airstrikes on schools, hospitals, religious buildings, and civilian residences, extrajudicial killings, and sexual violence.

Because of the military’s brutal actions, more than 3.5 million people have been displaced from their homes, and some 20 million people in Myanmar are in need of humanitarian assistance, the statement points out.

In such conditions, any election held by the junta cannot be a free and fair election, it says.

Canada calls for the release of all political prisoners; full access and freedom for humanitarian actors to operate; and genuine accountability for human rights violations. It also urges the junta to implement ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus and comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2669.
