🚩🚩 3. Sagaing Forum: Online Money Scams Known as “Kyarpyaint” Targeted for Eradication
October 25
The Sagaing Forum Federation announced plans to counter and eliminate online financial scams locally referred to as “Kyarpyaint,” labeling them as supported by the military.
The announcement, issued in Burmese, English, and Chinese, emphasized that these online scams not only harm the interests of local communities but also allow the organizers to grow into major criminal networks affecting international economic interests.
In recent years, such online financial scams have increased in Myanmar. Despite the military commission’s public denouncements, most of these scams remain directly linked to top officials within the military commission, including ministers, deputy ministers, and senior military officers.
The Sagaing Forum warned that these “Kyarpyaint” scams should be identified as military-supported criminal operations, resisted, and eradicated at the local level. They urged the public to remain vigilant to prevent becoming victims and encouraged community action against these scams.
Parents were advised to collectively oppose and eliminate any scam activities in their vicinity without tolerating them.

🚩🚩 4. MDIS Publishes Methods to Counter Threats from “Spy Balloons”
October 25
MDIS has issued guidance on countering the dangers posed by spy balloons, locally referred to as “Thulhyo Pu Phong,” recently deployed in certain townships of Sagaing Region.
The spy balloons can capture clear photographs of designated locations on the ground and collect intelligence data. They operate at high altitudes and are equipped to gather information stealthily, making them a sophisticated surveillance technology in modern warfare.
MDIS recommends that, rather than attempting to destroy the balloons, communities should monitor their presence, record the time, location, and approximate altitude, and track their movements. Additionally, critical facilities, arms depots, and military training sites should use dark-colored, smoke-colored tarpaulins to obscure equipment from the balloons’ cameras and sensors.
The above news reports were submitted by reporter Ko Hkan of Radio NUG.
