According to the Sagaing People’s Support Network, widespread displacement has occurred in Sarlingyi Township since the morning of October 18, when junta columns entered the area, forcing thousands of local residents to flee their homes to escape ongoing offensives.

As of today, junta troops continue conducting aggressive military operations around villages near the Wan Pong Yanzi Project Zone, resulting in the displacement of approximately 5,000 additional civilians. This has brought the total number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sarlingyi Township to around 10,000, the network reported.

A representative from the Sagaing People’s Support Network in Sarlingyi Township stated:

“Because of the previous and current junta offensives, around ten thousand civilians have now been displaced. Emergency food supplies are urgently needed. In our area, many homes have already been burned down, forcing people into long-term displacement. Therefore, there’s also a need for a structured and effective humanitarian support system for these long-term IDPs.”

The report further noted that junta forces have been firing heavy artillery indiscriminately from their stationed bases and carrying out airstrikes using paramotors, aircraft, and gyrocopters.
