🚩🚩 1. Myanmar Ambassador to the UN Says the Military Regime is Forcing Civilians, Including Children, to Serve as Human Shields and Clear Minefields
October 24
Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, has revealed that the terrorist military junta is forcing civilians — including children — to act as human shields and to walk through minefields under coercion.
He made these remarks during a meeting of the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, held under the agenda item titled “Assistance in Mine Action.”
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun explained that Myanmar has now become one of the countries with the highest number of deaths caused by landmines and explosive remnants of war worldwide.
He informed the participants that credible sources have already documented cases where the terrorist military junta has used civilians, including children, as human shields and forced them to march across minefields. Such acts, he stated, constitute a grave violation of the Geneva Conventions and are deliberately intended to inflict collective suffering and casualties on the civilian population.
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun further stressed that Myanmar’s children are bearing the brunt of the junta’s atrocities, noting that in 2024 alone, more than 800 children have been killed, while at least 300 others have been injured, many as a result of landmines and explosive remnants of war.
He emphasized that the junta’s ability to continue committing such brutal crimes against civilians is made possible by the actions of certain UN member states that continue to supply the junta with weapons, fighter aircraft, jet fuel, dual-use materials, and technical assistance.
He therefore called on all member states that are supporting the junta to immediately cease all financial and military assistance, and urged the international community at large to adopt concrete measures to cut off the junta’s access to weapons, financial flows, jet fuel, and dual-use materials, while extending meaningful humanitarian support to the people of Myanmar.
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun also informed the meeting that the National Unity Government (NUG), in cooperation with ethnic revolutionary organizations, local humanitarian networks, women- and disability-led organizations, and civil society partners, has been implementing ongoing efforts to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance, deliver life-saving assistance to affected civilians and displaced persons, and provide mine risk education as well as physical rehabilitation and prosthetic support for victims.
He concluded by appealing to all UN member states and the international community to stand firmly with the National Unity Government and the people of Myanmar in their struggle to end the immense suffering inflicted by the unlawful military regime.

🚩🚩 2. Five Junta Soldiers Killed in Resistance Attack in Northern Pauk Township; Military Column Retreats After Suffering Heavy Casualties
October 24
The People’s Revolutionary Force (PRF) has announced that five junta soldiers were killed and many others wounded during a resistance attack on a military column that had advanced into the northern part of Pauk Township, Pakokku District, Magway Region.
According to the PRF’s statement issued on October 23, the clash took place in the morning of October 17 when revolutionary forces jointly launched a defensive operation against a junta column of approximately 200 troops that had entered the northern area of Pauk Township.
The battle lasted for nearly one hour, involving intense exchanges of gunfire between both sides. Following the attack, five junta soldiers were confirmed dead, and at least eight others were seriously injured, forcing the junta troops to retreat without being able to advance further, the PRF reported.
The operation was a joint effort conducted by the People’s Revolutionary Force (PRF), People’s Democratic Army (PDA), Student Armed Force (SAF), BORDERLESS, and local People’s Defense Teams.
In its statement, the PRF reaffirmed its commitment to advancing unity among revolutionary forces and vowed to continue fighting until the common enemy — the terrorist military junta — is completely eradicated, so that the people can finally achieve the victory they long for.
