Myanmar Military News Updates – Oct 18, 2025 Morning

🚩🚩 1. Fierce clashes between SAC forces and KNLA along the Myawaddy–Waw Lay road

According to military sources, junta troops in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, launched an offensive along the Myawaddy–Waw Lay road, aiming to retake control of the area with the backing of the Karen Border Guard Force (BGF).

On the morning of October 15, junta columns with heavy troop strength set up bases near Inn Kyaing Myine Village and advanced toward Min Let Pan Village, resulting in intense clashes between junta troops and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint forces in the area between Inn Kyaing Myine and Min Let Pan.

The junta has been providing artillery and missile support from its Infantry Battalion (275) based in Myawaddy, while additional columns were reportedly mobilized near a Chinese Kyarpyaint compound in Inn Kyaing Myine. Meanwhile, Kyarpyaint ferry gates along the Thai border have been closed, and security forces are stopping and interrogating travelers along the road.

During the October 16 clashes, shells from the Myanmar side landed and exploded inside Thai territory, damaging several buildings, according to Thai media reports. Although there were no casualties on the Thai side, Thai military units have intensified border patrols and inspections in response.

It was further reported that junta troops disguised themselves in BGF uniforms and insignia while launching their assault, and BGF units themselves were also operating jointly with the junta forces.

Due to the ongoing fighting, residents from at least eight villages, including those from Lay Kay Kaw New Town and nearby areas, have fled to take refuge along the Thaung Yin River on the Thai–Myanmar border.

🚩🚩 2. SAC airstrike on Thitchyo Village school in Ahlataw Township kills five civilians, including a child

At approximately 10:43 a.m. on October 17, junta forces carried out an airstrike on the area near Thitchyo Village school in Ahlataw Townshipwithout any ongoing clashes in the vicinity.

The attack killed five civilians, including a seven-year-old child, according to local reports.

More than ten others were injured, and with several in critical condition, the death toll is expected to rise.

🚩🚩 3. Four civilians killed in junta air raids in Natthalin Township

In Natthalin Township, Bago Region, junta forces under the State Administration Council (SAC) launched air raids on multiple villages, resulting in the deaths of four civilians, according to local sources.

At around 6:30 p.m. on October 16, junta aircraft dropped bombs on Ma Kyee Pin Village despite no fighting taking place in the area. The attack killed one civilian and injured two others, locals said.

Similarly, in the afternoon of October 17, junta aircraft again conducted airstrikes near Taung Nyo Dam, targeting nearby villages despite the absence of any clashes.

The bomb explosions damaged Thinn Baw Chit Taing Village monastery, injuring five civilians and killing two others, according to reports.

In addition, a bomb also struck the Myin Village school, killing one more civilian.

Bomb fragments reportedly fell in Htan Taw and Kyat Nyo villages as well, though the extent of damage in those areas has not yet been confirmed.

Likewise, in Kyauk Phyar VillageKyaikhto TownshipMon State, a fighter jet dropped four bombs at about 10:40 a.m. on October 17, even though no clashes were occurring. The strike injured one woman, according to local reports.

🚩🚩 4. Two merchants injured in junta kamikaze drone attack in Laiza

At around 11:50 p.m. on October 16, a drone bomb dropped by junta forces exploded in the Laiza vegetable market area, injuring two Chinese nationals — a husband and wife — who were sleeping inside their shop, according to Kachin military sources.

The explosion occurred near their shop, and the couple sustained injuries from the blast.

Several nearby shops were also damaged by the explosion, reports said.

🚩🚩 5. Three civilians killed in Homine Village after junta airstrike

According to an official statement from the PSLF/TNLA, the military junta’s forces carried out an airstrike on Homine Village, located within Namhsan Township in northern Shan State — territory controlled by PSLF/TNLA Brigade 9 — killing three civilians: two women and one man.

At around 8:10 a.m. on October 17, the junta’s air force dropped two 500-pound bombs on Homine Village.
As a result of the airstrike, 15-year-old Loih Sandar Win15-year-old Loih Spay Nyunt, and 55-year-old U Kun Nwel were all killed instantly.

In addition, 20-year-old Loih Nilar Kyaw and 40-year-old Daw A Swe sustained injuries, while five houses were destroyed or heavily damaged by the explosions.

Similarly, the junta’s forces also bombed Namtu Town with two 250-pound bombs, injuring four women and damaging two school buildings as well as several civilian homes.

🚩🚩 6. Pyu Saw Htee militia abducts and robs a married couple in Kawlin, then rapes and kills the wife

In Kawlin TownshipSagaing Region, a married couple from Nyaung Kone Village was abducted and robbed by members of the Pyu Saw Htee militia while they were traveling toward Tanse to participate in a Kathina religious ceremony. The militia members then raped and murdered the wife, according to a statement issued by the PDF Battalion No. (3) of Kanbalu District.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on October 16, when Pyu Saw Htee members from the San Pan Nan Thar camp, located along the Shwebo–Myitkyina Road, intercepted U Kyaw Myo and Ma Aye Mar Oo, who were en route to the Kathina offering ceremony.

After abducting the couple, the militia members stole two gold chains, a one-kyattha gold ring, a gold nugget, one pair of earrings, one gold bracelet — totaling three kyattha of gold — along with 700,000 kyats in cashthree mobile phones, and one motorcycle.
They then raped and murdered Ma Aye Mar Oo, while her husband managed to escape and report the incident, according to his testimony.

Similarly, on October 13, Pyu Saw Htee members from the same San Pan Nan Thar camp unlawfully stopped a truck transporting timber traveling from Shwebo toward Tanin and abducted nine young men aboard.

In light of these escalating atrocities, PDF Battalion No. (3) of Kanbalu District has issued a warning to civilians to avoid traveling near areas where junta or Pyu Saw Htee militia camps are stationed.

🚩🚩 7. Eight escapees recaptured by Zero Guerrilla Force after breakout from Pa Ka Pha detention center in Myingyan District

Nearly 30 detainees, some armed, escaped from a Pa Ka Pha (Military Council) detention facility in Myingyan District, Mandalay Region. Of those who escaped, eight individuals have been recaptured by the Zero Guerrilla Force, according to reports.

On October 16, approximately 30 detainees escaped the Myingyan District People’s Defense Organization (PDO) detention center after seizing firearms, according to a public notice from the Myingyan People’s Movement Committee.

Among the escapees, seven men and one woman were recaptured on October 17 by the Zero Guerrilla Force.
Weapons recovered with them included one AK rifleone pistolone carbine, and one long knife, all of which have been returned to the relevant defense unit.

Currently, junta troops in Myingyan and Nwar Toe Gyi areas are conducting ground assaults, arson attacks, and air and drone bombings, leading to frequent clashes with Revolutionary Forces.
