Due to ongoing clashes in and around Banmauk Township, residents from several surrounding villages and four neighborhoods in the town have been forced to flee their homes to seek safety, according to a statement released by the Banmauk Township People’s Administrative Committee.

It was reported that civilians from around 15 villages have been displaced, urgently needing food, clothing, blankets, and mosquito nets. Local communities have been encouraged to donate and provide humanitarian assistance for those affected.

Organizations under the National Unity Government (NUG) have also been providing medical supplies and other necessities to over 1,000 displaced civilians from Katu ethnic villages across Banmauk Township.

Meanwhile, joint forces of the junta and the Shan Ni Army (SNA) reportedly arrested more than 200 local residents from A Lel Village and Sak Taw Village in Banmauk Township. Among those detained were elderly individuals over 60 years old who had taken refuge inside monasteries.

According to a report released by Mawlaik Revolutions on October 9, resistance forces successfully captured six junta bases in Mawlaik Township, Sagaing Region, as part of “Operation Seizing Bird,” which began in early August.

The six captured bases were located in Haw Tha, Taung Inn, Nyaung Wun, Nar Pin, Aw Zee Khon, and Naung Pain villages.

The first capture took place on August 15 at the Haw Tha base, where resistance forces detained four Pyu Saw Htee militia members, including their leader Aye Pan, along with over 190 junta troops and their families. On August 18, they captured two more soldiers from Infantry Battalion 88, and also took one People’s Militia member alive at Aw Zee Khon Village.

Despite airstrikes launched by the junta, the operation — jointly conducted by Mawlaik District Battalions (1, 2, 3, and 4), the People’s Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha), the People’s Security Force (Pa La Pha), and the District Command Office — achieved significant military success, though there were also casualties among the resistance side.

At present, junta forces have reportedly fortified Khin Tat, Swut Nan, and Toon Pin villages, leading to further civilian displacement in the area.

In addition, one junta soldier, two Pyu Saw Htee militiamen, and one village administrator defected with six firearms. They have been honored and rewarded for surrendering their weapons during Operation Seizing Bird.
