In Bhamo, Kachin State, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied forces have successfully recaptured several military bases that they had previously withdrawn from, according to KIA frontline sources. During the fighting, more than 50 junta troops were killed and many others were wounded.

On September 24, the junta’s Infantry Battalion (11) and Signal Battalion (5) launched a two-pronged offensive against the 3-Mile Base, Shwe Pyi Thar Base, and the KBC Church Hill area in Bhamo, forcing the KIA and allied forces to make a temporary retreat.

However, in the evening of October 1, the KIA and allied forces counterattacked and managed to reclaim those bases.

Since late 2024, the KIA and allied forces have been conducting assaults on junta positions in Bhamo and, as of now, they control many of the military’s bases in the area.

According to the People’s Revolutionary Alliance (PRA – Magway), 27 junta soldiers who fled from battles around Nat Yekan in Ngaphe Township, Magway Region, were captured by resistance forces.

The deserters were members of the junta’s Infantry Battalion (99) and Light Infantry Battalion (17). Most of them were forced conscripts, drawn from military training batches 7 to 13 under the regime’s unlawful conscription law.

PRA – Magway stated that these deserters are being treated well in accordance with international laws and norms governing prisoners of war.

The PRA also reported that, together with allied resistance groups, it continues to withstand junta offensives across the country, while also expanding liberated zones in post-battlefield areas.

Currently, as the junta regains strength in certain areas and resistance forces are forced to temporarily withdraw from some controlled zones, it has become necessary for resistance groups to implement the policy of a united military front in practice.

They emphasized that the priority must be strengthening the overall revolution, not just individual groups, and urged for unity to overcome fragmented command structures, scattered forces, and financial shortfalls so that battles can be fought collectively and effectively.
