🚩🚩 1. NUG Spokesperson U Nay Phone Latt urges forcibly conscripted soldiers being used as human shields by the junta to cooperate with the resistance forces by any means possible

October 1

The junta, which seized power unlawfully, has been using newly conscripted soldiers as human shields, forcing them to die on the frontlines. In response, U Nay Phone Latt, the spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG), has urged these forcibly conscripted soldiers to find ways, by any means possible, to cooperate with the revolutionary forces instead.

He delivered this message during NUG’s public and international press briefing held today, October 1. In his address, he highlighted the current battlefield situations and the plight of soldiers, encouraging newly conscripted troops to join forces with the people’s side.

U Nay Phone Latt also explained that captured junta soldiers were found to have been forced into heavy drug use to the point of being mentally unaware, showing how the junta manipulates them before pushing them into battles. He therefore warned conscripts not to blindly sacrifice their lives under drug influence on the frontlines, but instead to seek opportunities to collaborate with the resistance forces.

Statements from junta defectors who surrendered to the resistance in Kachin, Karen, and Rakhine, as well as testimonies from captured soldiers, also revealed that the junta forces new conscripts to fight as expendable units on the frontlines, while both officers and soldiers themselves take drugs during combat.

In today’s briefing, U Nay Phone Latt also honored the victory in the Banmauk battle, paying respect to the six fallen comrades who gave their lives, and offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured fighters.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the people both inside and outside Myanmar for rallying support to ensure that Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun continues to represent Myanmar at the United Nations. He emphasized that Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun’s representation is of great importance for Myanmar and its people, ensuring that the voice of the Myanmar people and the realities inside the country continue to be heard at the UN. He therefore called on the international community to keep supporting his mandate.

🚩🚩 2. AA reports discovery of bodies of Arakanese civilians killed and abandoned by ARSA militants

October 1

The Arakan Army (AA) announced today, October 1, that bodies of Arakanese civilians—who had been abducted, executed, and abandoned by the extremist terrorist group ARSA—were discovered.

AA stated that on September 28, while security troops were patrolling near the Maungdaw border, they found six decomposed corpses, reduced to bones, in a banana plantation about 770 meters northwest of Upper Inn Chaung village in Maungdaw Township.

According to AA, during September, ARSA militants crossed into Myanmar territory from Bangladesh and attempted infiltration operations aimed at seizing two security outposts—the AA Border Guard Camp near Point-601 Hill between Border Posts 56 and 57, and the Done Nyo outpost near Done Nyo village.

In their operations, ARSA captured non-Muslim civilians along the routes leading to the outposts, tortured and executed them to silence witnesses, and dumped their bodies in remote and isolated areas.

AA further revealed that in recent weeks, 10 cases of missing villagers were reported to their local administration bodies. The six bodies recently discovered are believed to belong to missing villagers from Tamanta village and Done Nyo village who were abducted and killed by ARSA militants.

Because the corpses were abandoned without proper burial and had decomposed severely, forensic specialists, together with the families of the missing, are now conducting identification processes.

AA added that despite the difficulties of pursuing ARSA militants who flee into Bangladesh, clearance operations continue against ARSA members hiding inside Rakhine territory to safeguard public security and eliminate terrorist threats.

AA also issued a warning that ARSA and RSO militants are threatening the lives and property of innocent Arakanese civilians in the Arakan-Bangladesh border area. They urged civilians in border areas to avoid traveling alone or in small groups, especially in forests or isolated locations. For urgent and unavoidable travel, including medical emergencies, civilians should coordinate with AA’s administrative and security units before proceeding.

🚩🚩 3. Resistance groups attack junta-controlled ward office in North Okkalapa, Yangon, with landmines and grenades

October 1

Resistance forces attacked the junta-controlled Ward Administration Office of 22nd Ward, North Okkalapa Township, Yangon, which had been heavily guarded by pro-junta militias. The attack involved a powerful landmine and hand grenades, causing damage and casualties on the junta’s side.

The attack occurred on September 30 at 10:50 PM, when resistance forces struck the office with one high-powered landmine and two grenades.

According to the revolutionary groups, the junta-controlled office, led by ward administrators and militia, had been facilitating the junta’s sham election activities and engaging in forced recruitment and human trafficking of youth for military conscription. The attack was therefore carried out as a targeted operation.

Resistance forces confirmed that they struck the target effectively, inflicting casualties on the junta side, and that further investigations are ongoing to verify details.

The operation was jointly carried out by Yangon Army (YA) and the Western District Pa Ka Pha. They vowed to continue strong attacks against junta-related targets and individuals involved in organizing the junta’s illegitimate elections.

This report was filed by Radio NUG correspondent Ko Khant.
