📌📌 1. CRPH Parliamentary Delegation Meets with IPU Secretary General

October 24

According to an announcement by the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the Myanmar parliamentary delegation, led by Dr. Win Myat Aye and Deputy Head Daw Zin Mar Aung, who are attending the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and related meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, met with the IPU Secretary General, Mr. Martin Chungong, on October 21.

During the meeting, the Myanmar delegation expressed their gratitude to the IPU Secretary General for his crucial role in officially recognizing the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) as a legitimate and formal partner organization of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

In addition, they discussed the illegal election preparations being conducted by the violent military junta and exchanged views with IPU member parliaments on the importance of rejecting and refusing to recognize any outcomes of such an unlawful election.

Just two days after this meeting, on October 23, the Inter-Parliamentary Union reaffirmed its recognition of the CRPH as the legitimate principal interlocutor of Myanmar within the IPU framework.

As a result of this continued recognition, the CRPH remains officially authorized to participate in IPU assemblies and related meetings as Myanmar’s legitimate parliamentary representative body.

📌📌 2. Myanmar Ambassador to the UN Says Persons with Disabilities Face Violence and Rights Violations Under Military Rule

October 24

Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, stated that persons with disabilities in Myanmar have been facing violence and grave human rights violations following the military coup.

He made these remarks during a UN Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Affairs Committee (Third Committee) interactive dialogue concerning the rights of persons with disabilities.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun emphasized that it is essential for children with disabilities to live in safe, supportive, and accessible environments. He explained to participants that, before the unlawful military coup, during the term of the democratically elected government, Myanmar had made tangible progress in promoting and protecting human rights, including the rights of persons with disabilities.

However, since the unlawful military coup in February 2021, persons with disabilities have not only been denied their fundamental rights but have also become specific targets of violence and indiscriminate human rights abuses by the junta.

He reported that 117 persons with disabilities, including women and girls, have been killed due to the junta’s indiscriminate airstrikes, artillery shelling, and ground assaults on civilian areas. Around 26 percent of these victims were burned alive in their homes during military raids in which entire villages were torched.

He further pointed out that the junta’s obstruction of medicine and humanitarian aid deliveries has caused more deaths among persons with disabilities, while ongoing airstrikes and landmine use in civilian-populated areas continue to raise the number of casualties.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun added that persons with disabilities account for approximately 13 percent of Myanmar’s total population—over 5.9 million people—and that they are living under constant fear without any guarantee of safety or protection.

Therefore, he urged the international community to strongly condemn the junta’s sham election and to actively support and safeguard the rights of persons with disabilities in Myanmar.

📌📌 3. Kim Aris Calls for Support to Independent Media

October 24

Kim Aris, the youngest son of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, has urged people to support and assist independent media organizations.

He stated that independent media outlets have been courageously preserving and reporting the truth amid the lies, propaganda, and intimidation spread by the military dictatorship.

Recognizing that these journalists and media workers represent brave and essential voices, Kim Aris called on the public to support them, amplify their stories, and stand together for the truth.

He underscored that the role of free and independent media is especially crucial during this period when the military regime is attempting to plunge the country into an information blackout following its coup.

Despite the junta’s ongoing efforts to eliminate and silence those who oppose it, independent media outlets continue to operate courageously, striving to deliver truthful information to the public.

October 24

Thai news agencies have reported that more than one thousand foreign nationals who had been working in Kyarpyaint (scam) operations inside “KK Park” in Myawaddy Township, Karen State—along the Thailand-Myanmar border—have fled into Thailand.

According to Khaosod, a Thai news outlet, foreign workers fled across the border after the Myanmar military launched operations targeting the Kyarpyaint (scam) compounds inside KK Park, located opposite Ban Mae Ku Tha Sung Village No. 9 in Mae Ku Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Thailand.

By noon on October 23, reports indicated that approximately 1,049 individuals had crossed into Thailand. Among them, 399 were Indian nationals (the largest group), followed by 147 Chinese nationals, along with citizens from Vietnam, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, and others from various countries. The group also included 31 Thai nationals.

Thai security authorities have established four temporary shelters in Mae Sot District to accommodate the refugees, though these shelters are reportedly reaching full capacity.

Thai immigration authorities, in coordination with security forces, are conducting thorough screenings using biometric verification systems and mobile biometric units to record personal data, travel history, and criminal backgrounds, pledging to enforce legal action in accordance with Thai law.

Following this announcement by Thai authorities, resistance organizations have urged Myanmar revolution supporters and those living without documentation in Mae Sot to remain vigilant and exercise caution in their movements for safety and security reasons.
