📌📌 3. Campaign Held in Karenni Region to Condemn the Junta’s Sham Election

October 19
Radio NUG

A public campaign opposing and condemning the sham election organized by the junta’s election commission was successfully conducted in the Karenni region, according to the Kayaw Youth Organization (KwYO).

The campaign, jointly organized in October by KwYO, the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC), the Union of Karenni State Youth (UKSY), and the Department of Youth Affairs, was attended by around 80 representatives from local administrative bodies, refugee committees, and youth groups.

During the campaign, participants discussed the circumstances surrounding the junta’s planned sham election, shared insights on political situations at both the Union and State levels, distributed anti-election pamphlets, and reviewed upcoming youth affairs initiatives.

It was emphasized that the terrorist military group, being an illegitimate entity that seized power unlawfully, holds no legal authority to conduct elections. Their actions have caused the deaths of thousands of civilians and displaced over two million people, forcing many into homelessness.

The public was urged not to participate in the junta’s political deception under the 2008 Constitution but instead to resist and counter it through all available means.
