📌📌 3. Justice For Myanmar Selected as Recipient of the 2025 Right Livelihood Award

Justice For Myanmar (JFM) has been selected as a laureate of the 2025 Right Livelihood Award, a prestigious international prize that honors individuals and organizations worldwide for their work toward peace, justice, and sustainability. JFM announced this recognition on October 1.

The award will be accepted in honor of the courage of the Myanmar people who have been resisting the illegal military coup since February 2021. It also serves as an important reminder to the world that Myanmar people’s struggle for federal democracy, peace, and justice deserves global acknowledgment.

JFM highlighted that ongoing violence is fueled by international governments, corporations, and Myanmar cronies who continue to supply the junta with finances, weapons, and capabilities.

The statement also warned that the junta is preparing a sham election in December 2025 and escalating violence against civilians in an attempt to crush resistance movements.

Mratana Maung stated:

“Taking practical action is now more urgent than ever. Governments worldwide must oppose the junta’s sham election and coordinate targeted sanctions to block the junta’s access to weapons, equipment, and aviation fuel that enable its brutal military campaigns. Corporations and investors must also act decisively to cut off the junta’s access to finances, weapons, equipment, and fuel.”

Other 2025 Right Livelihood Award laureates include Emergency Response Rooms (Sudan), Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change, Julian Aguon (Guam), and Audrey Tang (Taiwan). Since its establishment in 1980, the award has honored 203 individuals and organizations from 81 countries.
