🚩🚩 1. A member of the Kuki armed group allied with the military killed in drone bombing in Kale Township
September 23
The Ministry of Defense of the NUG’s Military Region No. 1 announced today, September 23, that in Kale Township, Sagaing Region, a member of the Kuki armed group allied with the military was killed in a drone bombing attack.
The announcement concerns a drone bombing carried out on September 15 by Battalion No. 4 of Kale District, which targeted the Kuki armed group led by the junta’s Military Commission in Nan Hnang Nwe Village, Kale Township.
As a result of the drone strike by Battalion No. 4, not only was a Kuki armed group member under the command of a military officer killed, but a junta major was also injured, the statement said.
According to the announcement, around 60 members of the Kuki armed group believed to be reinforcements had joined the junta’s military column, which had been conducting offensive operations in Nansonepu Village, Kale Township, since September 5. Following the bombing, however, the Kuki armed group was reportedly sent back to the rear.
It was also stated that about 30 members of the Kuki armed group led by a colonel are currently attending officer training courses at the junta’s No. 10 Central Training School in Kale town.
Captured members of the Kuki armed group reportedly told resistance forces that this colonel had also brought his wife along.
According to Military Region No. 1, the Kuki armed group entered Kale in August by boat from Homalin town in Hkamti District and may have relocated to Kale after previously operating from a base in Homalin Township, where they frequently attacked resistance groups.
Since the military coup in 2021, the Kuki armed group has reportedly operated in Tamu Township (Tamu District) and Homalin Township (Hkamti District), collaborating with the junta to frequently attack resistance fighters.
In Tamu District, Kuki armed organizations include the People’s Liberation Army Manipur (PLA-MP/PLAM), United National Liberation Front (UNLF), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PrePak-Pro), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), and Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), with a combined strength of over 500.
According to the statement, these Kuki armed groups from India began living in Heizin Village, Tamu District, Sagaing Region, more than a decade ago, and have been trafficking weapons and narcotics.
In addition to the Kuki armed groups, the Naga armed group Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) also reportedly collaborates with the junta in Tamu and Hkamti Districts to attack resistance forces.
The announcement further stated that earlier this year, the Indian Army’s Commander-in-Chief met with the commander of Special Operations Group No. 1 (SOG-1), and both sides conducted joint military exercises, provided military technology, aircraft supplies, and drones.

🚩🚩 2. Two junta soldiers killed in attack on military checkpoint in front of Paungtalai High School
September 23
In Paungtalai town, Paungde Township, Bago Region, two junta soldiers were killed when resistance fighters attacked a military checkpoint in front of Paungtalai High School, where the junta was forcibly arresting youths for military portering, according to Paungde Township People’s Defense Force (PPDF) Battalion 3601.
Resistance forces reportedly attacked the junta checkpoint around 7:15 pm on September 16.
During the attack, two junta soldiers were killed. Although the junta troops retaliated with small arms fire, no resistance fighters were harmed.
After the clash, around 10 pm, the junta reportedly removed the bodies of the killed soldiers toward Pyay.
The checkpoint was notorious for forcibly conscripting youths for military portering, unlawfully confiscating and destroying goods belonging to traders, and oppressing local residents. The attack was therefore carried out in retaliation, PPDF Battalion 3601 explained.
The attack was conducted by Subdivision-3 under Battalion 3601, operating under Strategy 21 Command.

🚩🚩 3. Resistance urges locals to prepare defenses as gyrocopters arrive at Monywa NAMKHA
September 23
Resistance groups have advised residents to take security precautions as gyrocopters have been deployed to the Northwestern Regional Military Headquarters (NAMKHA) in Monywa, Sagaing Region.
The Sagaing Region People’s Defense Surveillance Network issued the warning today, September 23, in a statement addressed to parents and the public.
The junta reportedly began using gyrocopters for aerial attacks in Minchan Township starting from July 18.
Currently, these gyrocopters have been stationed at NAMKHA in Monywa, serving as their base of operations.
Because townships within 100 kilometers of NAMKHA fall within the strike range of these gyrocopters, civilians are advised to remain alert, prepare protective measures, and follow updates from aerial monitoring groups.
Resistance groups estimate that gyrocopters, though as noisy as paramotor aircraft, can fly higher and faster than paramotors—reaching speeds of around 90 kilometers per hour.
It is also believed they are equipped to carry 120 mm bombs, with each gyrocopter typically carrying about three bombs for strikes.
