🚩🚩 1. AA increases security measures to prevent ARSA and RSO insurgent infiltration along the border

September 20

The Arakan Army (AA) announced that it will step up security measures to prevent and eliminate terrorist activities by ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) and RSO (Rohingya Solidarity Organization) insurgents, who have established footholds inside Bangladesh and are attempting to infiltrate across the border.

According to AA, these armed insurgent groups have been carrying out killings targeting non-Muslim civilians in border areas, prompting a security warning urging residents to remain vigilant.

At present, in areas of Rakhine State seized and controlled by the Arakan Army, the organization is carrying out both public administrative services and security responsibilities, while simultaneously resisting counteroffensives launched by the junta’s military.

In this situation, ARSA and RSO fighters have taken advantage of gaps in security to infiltrate through Nat River and Mayu Mountain routes into Maungdaw District from bases inside Bangladesh, according to a statement from the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA).

The ULA/AA further warned that these extremist Islamic groups, having entered Maungdaw District, are ambushing civilians—especially non-Muslims—who go into remote forests and hills to gather vegetables, cut firewood, or go shopping. Recent days have seen continued incidents of shootings, abductions, and killings.

In addition, AA reported that extremist groups are also fabricating false battle scenes that resemble clashes with the Arakan Army, using such propaganda to rally greater support.

One tactic noted was the abduction and killing of non-Muslim Rakhine civilians in remote areas, dressing the victims in AA uniforms, and then spreading manipulated photos and reports on social media. This, the AA says, is designed to deceive international observers and secure more sympathy, support, and funding for these extremist groups.

Because ARSA and RSO are threatening the lives, homes, and property of the Arakan people living in the Rakhine-Bangladesh border region, the Arakan Army has warned local people that this is a time to remain extremely vigilant regarding personal security.

They urged civilians living in these border areas:

  • To avoid traveling alone or in very small groups into forests, mountains, or remote areas.
  • If travel is necessary for health reasons or other urgent matters, to first inform and coordinate with the nearest administrative and security units of the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government.

The AA also called on all Arakan civilians living along the Rakhine-Bangladesh border to actively cooperate with ULA/AA in addressing these threats.

At present, the ULA/AA stated it is engaged in daily defensive operations in Rakhine and surrounding areas against the junta’s counteroffensives.

🚩🚩 2. Thirteen-day battle in Ka Ni Township kills 12 junta soldiers; Yanmar Bin Pa Ka Pha deputy commander Ko Naing Min killed

September 20

In Ka Ni Township, Sagaing Region, at least 12 junta soldiers were killed and Yanmar Bin Pa Ka Pha deputy commander Ko Naing Min lost his life after revolutionary forces attacked a junta column for 13 consecutive days in Chaung Ma Village, according to an official statement released on September 20 by Yanmar Bin District Pa Ka Pha, along with video documentation.

On September 4, around 8 a.m., over 100 junta troops from the Namyin Military Operations Command (Na Ma Kha) based in Monywa began moving through Tayar Kyin Village in Yanmar Bin Township toward Ka Ni Township, reaching Chaung Ma Village around 2 p.m. that same day.

During their march, revolutionary forces in Ka Ni Township ambushed them, killing two junta soldiers.

From September 5 onwards, the junta forces established a base at Chaung Ma Village, where they set fire to nearby villages and launched artillery attacks, destroying five civilian homes. This also led to repeated clashes with resistance forces.

On September 7, the junta’s Namyin Command Headquarters in Monywa sent over 300 reinforcements to Tayar Kyin Village to assist the trapped troops at Chaung Ma.

However, the reinforcements were intercepted and besieged by joint forces including Yanmar Bin District Pa Ka Pha, Yanmar Bin Township Pa Ka Pha, Sarlingyi Pa Ka Pha, Yanmar Bin District Strategy Unit-47, and Yanmar Bin District Battalion-1. The junta column was prevented from advancing further and became encircled by resistance forces.

On September 11, revolutionary forces in Ka Ni Township, supported by Pa Ka Pha assault teams, BLDF, BNRA, and allied units, launched a major attack on the trapped junta troops in Chaung Ma Village. Despite support from Y-12 transport aircraft and jet fighters, the junta forces were forced to retreat from the village.

As they withdrew, they were ambushed again by resistance forces. During this engagement, junta airstrikes struck the battlefield, killing Ko Naing Min, the deputy commander of Yanmar Bin Township Pa Ka Pha.

Resistance groups reported that during the 13 days of fighting, they managed to:

  • Kill at least 12 junta soldiers.
  • Seize six rifles from ambush operations.
  • Capture 10 bodies of junta soldiers, seven firearms of various types, and military supplies.

Meanwhile, during the battle, junta forces launched 120mm and Howitzer shells from Na Ma Kha (Monywa), Kyauksit Pon’s AMaTa-508, and Aung Zeya Kyikukone, killing five civilians, including two children, and injuring 15 others.

🚩🚩 3. Three junta soldiers killed in attack on military checkpoint in Yephyu Township

September 20

In Paya Village, Yephyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, revolutionary forces attacked a junta checkpoint, killing three soldiers, according to Strategy-33, which announced the news today, September 20.

The checkpoint in Paya Village, manned by about 60 junta troops, was attacked on September 18 by joint revolutionary forces.

The attack began at around 6 a.m., leading to an exchange of fire that lasted for about an hour. At least three junta soldiers were killed, and several others were injured.

Because the checkpoint is located on the main road linking Zardi and Kanpauk, junta forces fired heavy weapons into surrounding areas. As a result, one revolutionary fighter sustained minor injuries and two civilians were wounded.

Revolutionary forces have urged local residents to remain highly cautious.

After the battle, Infantry Battalion 273 sent reinforcements in four military trucks to strengthen the checkpoint.

The attack was carried out jointly by:

  • Daung Combat Column-3 (KBDF)
  • Daung Battalion-6 (Wei Hin Column)
  • Daung Battalion-7 (LPF)
  • Ramanya Mon Army (RMA)
  • Dawei District Battalion-1 (T1)
