🚩🚩 1. AA warns of severe retaliation for the deaths of Rakhine civilians in an airstrike

September 13

The Arakan Army (AA) has announced that it will launch strong retaliatory actions in response to the deaths of Rakhine civilians caused by an airstrike carried out by the terrorist military junta.

The statement comes after the junta’s fighter aircraft bombed two schools in Kyauk Taw Township, Rakhine State, killing 19 students.

According to the AA, the terrorist military, which is suffering defeats and losing territory, has been increasingly carrying out indiscriminate bombings with rage and disgracefully targeting civilian areas rather than military targets.

The AA revealed that on September 12, at 1:05 a.m., a junta fighter jet dropped two 500-pound bombs on Pannaya Pan Khin Private High School and A Myin Thit Private High School in Tharyet Tabin Village, Kyauk Taw Township. The bombs landed directly in front of Pannaya Pan Khin School, killing 19 students on the spot and injuring 22 others.

The AA also documented a series of previous deadly airstrikes by the junta in Rakhine State in 2024:

  • On January 8, a junta airstrike on Kyauk Nima Village in Ramree Township killed 26 civilians.
  • On January 18, a junta airstrike near Ram Chaung Village in Mrauk-U Township killed 28 civilians, mostly children and women.
  • On May 13, a junta airstrike on Htun Ya Way Village (Old) in Rathedaung Township killed 12 civilians.
  • On May 14 and 15, airstrikes on Ywar Mar Quarter, Kyauk Taw Township, killed 8 civilians.
  • On August 25, an airstrike on Dain Kyi Quarter, Mrauk-U Township, killed 15 civilians.

The AA urged the international community not to stand by idly but to take effective and decisive measures against these war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the terrorist junta.

The AA stated that it will continue to provide detailed records of the junta’s inhumane atrocities and war crimes to relevant international organizations.

It also pledged to cooperate with individuals and organizations that value justice, working until accountability is achieved. Furthermore, the AA declared that it will launch strong retaliatory actions against the perpetrators, the commanders who ordered the crimes, and all those complicit in them.
