📌📌 1. Acting President of NUG says the people still desire the leadership participation of the National League for Democracy (NLD)

September 27

Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG), Duwa Lashi La, stated that the people of Myanmar still long for the leadership role and participation of the National League for Democracy (NLD), a party with a historic tradition, in order to build conditions that guarantee freedom for the people.

He made this statement today, September 27, during the 37th anniversary ceremony of the founding of the NLD.

He affirmed that the NLD will continue to uphold its historic responsibilities, and that in opposing the military dictatorship—including sham elections that would only prolong military rule—the NLD will remain united with, and play a leading role in, the entire Spring Revolution movement.

Furthermore, the Acting President appealed for the continued cooperation of all forces in the Spring Revolution so that it develops into a comprehensive political movement.

He also emphasized that the NLD’s participation is of special importance to the entire Union, as it will contribute to strong political agreements among all revolutionary forces in resisting the military dictatorship and in building a federal democracy.

The Acting President added that the Spring Revolution can be regarded as the continuation of the democracy movement that began 37 years ago, and that the NLD, being a major political party, has made immense contributions and sacrifices. On behalf of all Spring Revolution leaders, he paid deep respect to the NLD’s dedication.

Speaking about the NLD, the Acting President said that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s role cannot be forgotten or erased. He stressed that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is not only the leader of the NLD, but also an invaluable national leader of Myanmar.

Therefore, he affirmed that efforts are still ongoing for the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi—who is unjustly imprisoned by Min Aung Hlaing and the military junta—alongside all other political prisoners who remain unlawfully detained.

📌📌 2. NLD declares it will work together with allied forces to prevent the junta’s sham election from materializing

September 27

The Central Executive Committee of the National League for Democracy (NLD) announced that it will cooperate with all allied forces to ensure that the sham election planned by the military junta does not materialize.

This declaration was made today, September 27, on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the NLD’s founding.

The NLD stated that, from its inception, it was formed with the aim of establishing genuine democracy consistent with the will of the people and guaranteeing fundamental human rights, ensuring that Myanmar would continue to emerge as a federal democratic union based on the people’s will for generations to come, and preventing the resurgence of authoritarian regimes that oppress and exploit the people.

The NLD recalled that its leaders—U Tin Oo, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and U Win Tin—had placed the interests of the people above all else, leading with selfless vision, and that with the participation and support of diverse ethnic nationalities and social classes, the NLD had won overwhelming victories in every election it contested.

In the November 8, 2020, general election, the NLD won 82.36% of all constituencies nationwide and secured 920 parliamentary seats. International observers, diplomats, and monitoring organizations recognized the election as free and fair despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Union Election Commission (UEC)—the only constitutionally authorized body—officially announced the election results. Therefore, the NLD reaffirmed that the 2020 election results, which reflect the will of the people, remain valid until replaced by the results of another free and fair election.

The NLD stressed that the junta’s sham election—designed to deceive the people and the international community into granting political legitimacy to the coup—cannot be free or fair. Hence, the NLD pledged to work with all allied forces to prevent it from taking place.

While recognizing and appreciating the efforts of ASEAN, neighboring countries, and allies to address Myanmar’s political crisis, the NLD urged the international community to not only seek temporary solutions but also to address the root causes, emphasizing that only by respecting the will of the people can long-lasting peace and stability be achieved.

The NLD also underscored that any dialogue or negotiation to resolve Myanmar’s political crisis that excludes Daw Aung San Suu Kyi cannot succeed. It therefore urged international friends, domestic and foreign allies to continue pressing for the unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners, and pledged to cooperate effectively with all.

The NLD concluded by declaring that, as a party born of the people, it will endure as long as the people exist, no matter how much dictators attack and attempt to destroy it.

📌📌 3. CRMH pledges to strive until the Spring Revolution achieves the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union

September 27

The Committee Representing Mandalay Hluttaw (CRMH) has pledged to strive with full determination until the Spring Revolution succeeds in establishing a Federal Democratic Union.

This pledge was made in a message sent today, September 27, to mark the 37th anniversary of the founding of the NLD.

The CRMH noted that the NLD is a people’s party born from the 1988 pro-democracy uprising, consistently standing firm for democracy, human rights, and federalism.

It recalled that in the 1990 multi-party general election, the NLD won the majority of constituencies nationwide, gaining overwhelming public support. However, the military regime at the time, the SLORC, unlawfully arrested NLD leaders, elected MPs, and members, attempting to dissolve the party. Thanks to the vision of some NLD leaders, the party endured and stood firm.

Through successive eras, military regimes—whether SLORC or SPDC—oppressed the NLD in many ways. Yet Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, NLD leaders, and members resolutely carried forward the democratic struggle, fighting for federalism, democracy, and human rights up to the present.

The CRMH also noted that in the 2020 general election, the NLD, with strong public support, again won a landslide victory with over 83% nationwide. However, military leaders, intoxicated with power, falsely claimed fraud, carried out a coup, arrested State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint, and leaders of the civilian government, and destroyed the nascent federal democracy.

The message condemned the junta’s subsequent atrocities—massacring peaceful protestors, arresting and executing political activists, destroying party offices—and accused it of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The CRMH highlighted that because the NLD has consistently worked for democracy, federalism, and human rights, and because it has the support of the people, it is rightly honored and respected as the political party that consistently wins overwhelming electoral victories.

As a body representing the people’s elected Mandalay Region Hluttaw, the CRMH declared that it is participating in the Spring Revolution alongside the people, supporting political prisoners and the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), and implementing political initiatives in Mandalay in collaboration with revolutionary forces in line with parliamentary practices.

Therefore, the CRMH pledged that, together with the people, it will continue to carry out legislative, administrative, and judicial duties to strengthen governance, and that it will commit all its capabilities to the Spring Revolution until it succeeds in establishing a Federal Democratic Union.
