ππ 1. Meeting Between the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Sagaing Federal Unit Parliamentarians

It is reported that on September 16, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the parliamentarians of the Sagaing Federal Unit held a meeting via video conference.
During the meeting, U Aung Kyi Nyunt, the Chairperson of the CRPH, delivered the opening address. Following that, U Myint Htwe, the Speaker of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament, explained matters related to the ongoing process of forming the interim government of the Sagaing Federal Unit.
Afterwards, the attending parliamentarians engaged in mutual discussions, and the meeting successfully concluded at 8:40 a.m.
It is learned that the meeting was attended by CRPH Chairperson U Aung Kyi Nyunt and members, as well as the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and parliamentarians from the Sagaing Federal Unit side.

ππ 2. UN (IIMM) Requests Information on the Kyauk Taw School Airstrike Incident

The Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) has called on eyewitnesses and those with direct knowledge to share evidence concerning the airstrike on a school in Kyauk Taw Township, Rakhine State.
On September 12, at around midnight, a school dormitory in Tharyetapin Village, Kyauk Taw Township, was hit by an airstrike. At least 22 students were killed and no fewer than 20 others were injured.
The IIMM is collecting information not only on this incident but also on other airstrikes. Requested evidence includes photos or videos of injuries, damage, aircraft and munitions, details of victims, types of aircraft and weapons used, as well as information about the pilots and the orders given to them.
The mechanism urged anyone in possession of such information to share it with them, while kindly requesting that submissions only be made from safe locations due to the seriousness of the matter.
The statement stressed that this incident is one of the most brutal attacks on schools since the February 1, 2021 military coup, worsening the suffering of civilians and ethnic communities in Rakhine State who are already enduring bombings, killings, forced displacement, and starvation.
The IIMM was established by the UN Human Rights Council in 2018 to collect and analyze evidence of the gravest international crimes and violations of international law committed in Myanmar since 2011.

ππ 3. Awareness Campaign on African Swine Fever Prevention and Control Conducted in Laukkai

On September 15, the Health Department conducted an awareness campaign in Laukkai to emphasize prevention and effective control measures against the current outbreak of African Swine Fever.
Recently, numerous pigs had fallen sick and died in Laukkai. Upon investigation, the Special Region Health Department confirmed it was caused by African Swine Fever.
At 1:00 p.m. on September 15, an emergency prevention and control awareness session was held at the Laukkai City Hall. Dr. Song Ke Li, Chief of the Public Health Department, together with medical staff, explained and educated the public about necessary preventive measures.
It was highlighted that prevention relies on strict implementation of bio-security measures at pig farms, consistent cleaning and disinfection routines, and proper farm management practices.
Farmers were urged to regularly disinfect pig farms and equipment, and to build farms in line with standardsβwell-ventilated and with adequate sunlight.
Additionally, disinfectants effective against African Swine Fever were introduced, and farmers were encouraged to systematically carry out preventive measures to reduce economic losses.
At the conclusion of the campaign, officials distributed educational pamphlets on prevention and urged participants to spread the knowledge further and cooperate in strengthening disease-control systems.

ππ 4. From November 2023 to August 2025, 184 Children Under 18 Killed by Military Attacks in Rakhine

According to HDCO, between November 2023 and August 2025, military attacks in Rakhine State resulted in the deaths of a total of 184 children under the age of 18, with 474 others injured. Among these, 102 were killed and 213 injured specifically due to airstrikes.
Furthermore, 47 schools were destroyed by military attacksβ37 from airstrikes and 10 from artillery shelling.
At around 1:00 a.m. on September 12, the Myanmar military dropped two 500-pound bombs from the air onto Tharyetapin Village, Kyauk Taw Township. They landed directly in front of the Myay Pan Khin Private High School, causing mass civilian casualties, including students. Twenty people were killed.
Such mass killings of students and children through airstrikes constitute grave war crimes by the Myanmar military. The report urged international organizations to act swiftly to halt these crimes and protect civilian lives and properties.
