📌📌 1. UNICEF Expresses Concern over the Bombing of Kyauktaw School, Leaves Perpetrator Unnamed
September 13, Radio NUG
In Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, the military council carried out a midnight bombing attack on a private school in Tharyar Tapin village, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of children. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the incident.
According to UNICEF, the airstrike on September 12 claimed the lives of up to 19 students from Grade 8 to Grade 12 who were studying at the school. However, the statement did not identify the perpetrators responsible.
Although the names of the perpetrators were not mentioned, UNICEF stated that the attack constitutes part of the escalating violence in Rakhine State, where children and families are enduring the gravest consequences.
UNICEF called for an immediate end to violence against children, but did not specify which groups or entities the appeal was directed at.
Meanwhile, the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) released a statement only hours after the attack, confirming that the military council forces had bombed its affiliated Pann Khinn and New Vision private high schools. The ULA/AA also published the names, photographs, and detailed information of the students who were killed and injured.
On the other hand, pro-military propaganda Telegram channels spread false claims that those killed in the bombing were not students, but AA military trainees. Nonetheless, the military council’s own sources admitted that they had carried out the mass aerial bombardment.
