Radio NUG
At the opening ceremony of the First Coordination Forum of People’s Revolutionary Forces in Mandalay Region, Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG), Duwa Lashi La, expressed his hope that government bodies based on federal units would continue to emerge more extensively in Mandalay, Sagaing, and Magway Regions.
Acting President Duwa Lashi La stated:
“Today’s ceremony is a gathering aimed at ensuring strong public participation and representation for the preliminary endorsement of the Draft Interim Political Program for Mandalay Region, which was prepared by the Mandalay Region Interim Political Program Coordination and Drafting Committee. Therefore, the establishment of this Coordination Forum of Mandalay Region’s People’s Revolutionary Forces, and the fact that you are all gathered here in unity for the first meeting, is a matter I regard as positive, righteous, and something that rightfully should happen. I therefore wish to warmly welcome it once again.”
He further emphasized that in these three major regions—Mandalay, Sagaing, and Magway—he hoped government bodies based on respective federal units would continue to emerge extensively, and that in the near future such bodies would indeed be formed in line with the will of the people. He added that the NUG firmly believes in this, and will continue to collaborate tirelessly, in accordance with federal principles, to ensure the success and flourishing of the broader revolutionary movement.
The Acting President also pointed out that an Interim Constitution has already been adopted in Sagaing Region, while in Magway Region discussions and consultations regarding interim programs are ongoing.
Concluding his remarks, he said:
“The interim programs currently being implemented in Mandalay, Sagaing, and Magway Regions are good steps to ensure stronger, more transparent, and more legitimate interim governance mechanisms. Therefore, I urge continuous efforts to establish proper coordination between central and regional levels, to foster broad-based public representation, and to build systematic and robust governing institutions.”
He also encouraged revolutionary political forces to work closely together during the Spring Revolution in order to deepen solidarity, strengthen revolutionary cohesion, and generate greater positive outcomes.

📌📌 4. UN High Commissioner Calls on Security Council to Refer Myanmar to ICC Amid Worsening Human Rights Situation
September 2
Radio NUG
Due to the worsening human rights situation in Myanmar, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, urged the UN Security Council to refer Myanmar’s case to the International Criminal Court (ICC), in a report released on September 2.
According to the report, Myanmar is witnessing increasing levels of killings, torture, village raids and destruction, as well as mass displacement—particularly in Rakhine State—similar to the events of 2017.
From the military coup in February 2021 up until August 2025, the junta has killed around 7,100 civilians, about one-third of whom were women and children. Furthermore, 29,560 people have been arrested for political reasons, and over 22,000 remain in detention.
The report also noted that between May 31, 2025, and the preceding 14 months, junta airstrikes had caused significant civilian casualties.
High Commissioner Türk stressed that ongoing violations of international law are happening because perpetrators continue to enjoy impunity. He therefore reiterated his call for the Security Council to refer Myanmar’s situation to the ICC.

📌📌 5. Justice for Myanmar: All Members of SSPC Are Sanctioned by at Least One Country, But the Entire Organization Must Also Be Sanctioned
September 2
Radio NUG
Justice for Myanmar has pointed out that although all individual members of the State Administration Council (SAC/SSPC) are under sanctions from at least one country, the SSPC as a whole organization has not been sanctioned, creating a dangerous loophole that benefits the junta.
It was noted that sanctions were imposed against the SAC by:
- the United States on May 17, 2021,
- the United Kingdom on June 21, 2021,
- the European Union on November 8, 2022, and
- Canada on October 31, 2023.
Justice for Myanmar emphasized that international governments must impose broad sanctions against the illegal junta as an organization, ensuring that it cannot bypass or evade existing individual sanctions. Therefore, SSPC must urgently be added to international sanctions lists.
