In Yone Sii Gyi Village, Myingyan Township, a junta column—composed of the Myingyan People’s Militia (Lay Lone Ma group) and Mobye Police Battalion (5)—has been stationed, and since their arrival they have carried out atrocities including looting homes, arson, and sexual violence against women, according to the Taungtha People’s Movement Committee.

On September 20, they looted a general store in Yay Khar Village, stealing about 1.5 million kyats in cash, sacks of rice, and other consumer goods. They also forcibly took earrings, rings, and gold items from a woman.

In addition, along the routes of their movement, they confiscated more than 100 mobile phones from civilians. The stolen cash was reportedly transferred to their families via K-Pay and W-Pay.

Empty bottles of liquor and beer, as well as male condoms, were found discarded along the column’s path. Reports indicate that the troops were using narcotic drugs, which fueled their inhumane acts of sexually assaulting young women.

In Yone Sii Gyi and Than Bi (Yar) villages, they destroyed household property such as solar panels, battery cases, rice containers, plates, and pots, dumping some of the items in the forest.

Before the column was dispatched, it was reported that Sithar Yu Mon had paid them 100,000 kyats each as an incentive.

On September 20, while clearing mines along the Yone Sii Gyi–Mahlwaing road section, intoxicated junta police mishandled an anti-personnel mine, causing an explosion that killed and injured several of them.

It was also reported that the column’s commander, a captain, sustained facial injuries and was transported to Meiktila for treatment.
